So, he's been in charge for two seasons now, but our crap defence (if not the worst in the league, then very close to it) is not his fault, he is the head coach. The buck stops at him.
We came equal last last year, mainly because of bad defence, if we miss the semis , it will be again mainly because of our bad defence.
He kept the crap defence coach after his woeful efforts last year, that's when he should have been sacked.
He didn't sack him,
Taylor is responsible for the teams performance . Not just the bits that suit him.
All of it.
If he couldn't see that we needed someone better for the defence, ( or better defenders) then he mustn't have been watching the games.

GCT,I accept what you are saying, however,we did finish equal last in 2015 with a very bad defensive record, this year our record is not much better but we are touching on the top 8,so there must be some improvement within this team under Taylors coaching and the couple of losses that were very close we could have won except for poor goalkicking…it is a personal opinion of how our year has gone,to me the improvement in attitude for most of the season has impressed many as has Moses controlling of the team and with good recruiting in the next couple of years we will be stronger and better...

You fail to factor in the Robbie Farah influence.
He gave up in 2015 and you can't deny that.
His last few games of 2015 was disgraceful and that alone deserves to be moved on.

You mean the last games including where he blew the Warriors away?
No matter how you dislike him, you can't whinge about his defence, always one of our best defenders if not the best

Some people are amazing.

They decide to re write history and hope no one can remember what actually happened.

Nobody is questioning his defence even though his tackle count each game is inflated with second man in flops.
It's his attack I was talking about and his abysmal service. You know he gave up in 2015\. Some games he didn't he try.

It's funny. I was thinking the exact same thing about the JT deathriders.

The divisive Robbie Farah still has us divided after all these years.
Great leader that won't be remember as one.

History is history. There is a saying in rugby league, "you are only as good as your last game".

Sheens would be fist pumping the air that a thread on him would once again end up about Robbie Farah..

FWIW..I think matchball meant season 2014 firmly planted in the 8 until Dragongate..

I don't think anyone is doubting WT have improved.. Though having said that JT is an interim coach, I can't see JT taking us to the next level until proven otherwise..

BTW JT came to the club openly commited to implementing an defensive style of play, remember what he said about running through the Tigers up the guts with Souths? we saw what happen last year with this logic hence the improvement in 2016.

If JT winds up as a Brian Smith, hatchet man type coach whose role is to come in and clean up the mess for the next coach to reap the benefits then so be it. I always said when Sheens was here that the coach after him had the potential to be a sacrificial lamb. Potter could have been if he was allowed control, but he had to toe the line. JT has been given the freedom to do what was needed, to be the hatchet man. Whoever the next coach is, whenever he's appointed, the ground work for him will have been laid.

If Lui didn't go off the rails we actually had a chance.
We were on the cusp of greatness once again, we had finally found someone to compliment Benji in the halves since Prince departed.
Losing Lui sent us into a heap of crap again.

That combined with letting decent players go to afford Blair.

I miss Sheens. He made mistakes but at least delivered an unlikely premiership and we were the highest rating team on TV.
At least we had hope every year and every game.
Now…..

This season has not been any different to the majority of years Sheens was at the helm results wise.

Yeah,
Well this year we only beat 1 team of any note that's Nth Qld when a long way off their best whereas back then we could beat anyone.
When not decimated by injuries always top 4 except for 2012 and highly marketable.
Not these days.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Stop blaming the coach for the team's overall lack of ability. It 's not the coach's fault it is the fault of the shonky administrators the club had circa 2009 - 2014\. We are still way behind the eight because of their dastardly dealings.

so true

I say Sheens for PM, surely he would do better than the current lot..

Who could forget watching WT at the SFS on a warm September afternoon rubbing my eyes in disbelief whilst the Tigers dismantle the Broncos.. Just one of gazillion great memories of the Sheens era.. And yes we did lose to Newcastle to not make the semis in 2006? Drama that always kept our interest levels to the end  there was some downers..

Yep I'm inclined to agree. Played some great finals footy with Liu and Benji in 2011.

Bit of a stretch saying we were always top 4 when not decimated by injuries under sheens.
