MULLANEY THE LEADING POINTSCORER IN TOYOTA CUP
By Wayne Cousins
Sunday, September 06, 2009
Exciting young Wests Tigers full-back Jake Mullaney has finished as the Toyota Cup leading pointscorer.
>
Heading into the final round this weekend, Mullaney was sitting on 256 points, 24 clear of nearest rival Gareth Widdop from the Melbourne Storm.
>
Widdop had a chance too to overtake Mullaney after the Wests Tigers full-back was sick during the team’s warm-up against the Bulldogs on Friday night, resulting in him being a late withdrawal just prior to kick-off.
>
However, Widdop only managed an individual haul of 14 points in the Storm’s 46-44 victory over the Warriors to finish on 246 points – 10 behind Mullaney.
>
Mullaney scored 22 tries and kicked 84 goals for a personal tally of 256 points.
>
Wests Tigers congratulates Jake Mullaney on his achievements and wish him and his team-mates the very best of luck for the Toyota Cup finals next weekend. Wests Tigers finished the regular season in fourth place.

Fantastic achivement from the mini - Mouse….....this kid reminds me of another young fullback that played for Wests....in the 90's

Good achievement from the youngster. He'll be one to watch in the 20's again next season.

Every game i saw he had 3 tries next to his name… i expected his final tally to be 40+. Would've been 25+ if he played against the Dogs...

Hoping for another 3 this weekend.

He needs to score a few points today to take back the lead. One of the Melbourne players got it last night after they trounced the rabbits.
