Must win game

Warriors are probably the biggest threat for 8th spot

Currently Warriors, Titans, Knights, Dragons all on 20 pts, with perhaps Canberra also a slight chance being on 20

If tigers win, we will have a small buffer of 4pts on these teams, and hopefully a better points differential

With only 5 games remaining after this weekend, 4 pts means a lot! It will also put pressure on Manly and Sharks (if they lose) because the for/against are quite close.

GO YOU TIGERS :righton:

Our boys won't think like that…...... They will go out thinking we can afford to drop this game because the Warrior lost!!!!
We're not the smartest team running around.

Warriors and Manly going down have helped us a lot. A big win by around 40 points (unlikely) will put us above the Cowboys and Manly into 6th position.

A win against Souths is also a must. Next week the Cowboys play the Dogs down here (Cows should lose), and Manly and the Warriors go up against eachother which is good as we're guaranteed one of them loses.

Our charge up the ladder starts NOW!

How the results have gone for us so far has me worried –- it's all set up if we can focus and fire up and win!

However , we're not known to capitalize... We never seen desperate enough and the fact that I think we will stay 8th even if we lose just doesn't go down well for the mind set... Thus I can see us losing this .

I hope I'm proved wrong but I almost feel we'd be better mentally if we needed to win to be in the 8... Rather we should be right up for this as a win tomorrow is massive and suddenly we have an actual buffer and can build and actually give ourselves a chance to be close to top 4 or at least so much closer to making the 8-- although maybe I also have to realise we just aren't playing well Enough, but my concern is more the mentality.

C'mon tigers!

After watching the warriors I reckon gold coast are the bigger threat.

But you're right mate it is a must win, well they all are from here in.

C'mon boys rip in and smash the cowgirls.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sick of hearing the term.

Every year it gets to a point where games become "must win" to ensure we stay in touch with the top 8, especially in the last 8-10 rounds. It'd be nice to have one season where we get off to a good enough start where we don't have to encounter these types of matches which place undue pressure on team.

I'm with you there, CB.

WHO HONESTLY CARES about 8th??????? To do anything, you NEED a top 4 finish this season. This game is 100% MUST win.

BTW Does the below quote explain why we are so apathetic so often?

Don't look at the table? Newsflash: win this and the season and top 4 is alive. Lose and we are going to be fighting for 8th and an impossible task to go anywhere in the finals even if we get there…

“It is important to start winning. I haven’t really looked at the table because Sheensy encourages us not to,’’ a relaxed Marshall said.

Raiders are the biggest thread after winning by 32 at shark park today. Every game is a must win, if we don't think that way every game we will end up like the eels. Eels only win when they have to but i think it is a lil too late for them to wake up, they cost their coach his job..

Does anyone here really care about 8th?

With our roster, the top 4 HAS to be the aim. Who cares about 8th. Under the new format, 8th just means an extra week or two and you are out.

This team needs to be DESPERATE. You've got the NZ captain, an Origin star hooker, one of the greatest poms ever, host of rep and test players….........................8th will be a disgraceful effort.

Fire them up for once Sheens...........

One week at a time, so this game is the biggest one of the season for us. We have won the past 5 against the cowboys and they are well aware of it. A solid perfromance this week hopefully gets us the win and all of a sudden we have won 2 in a row and start abit of a roll towards the finals…

In saying that with every results going our way this week loosing this match is certainly not season over Possibly top 4... And the new finals format is better suited to teams 7 and 8 then the previous one. Instead of playing team 1 or 2 you play team 5 or 6...So dont be suprised if a team outside the top4 wins the premiership for the first time in 20 odd years...its such an even comp and once you make the finals you only have to win 4 straight, which all of the top 12 teams are capaible of...

What a sport NRL is, definalty the most competitive professional sport in the world!!! love it!!

every game is must win from now on we have to win at leats 4 out of our last 7 games to make the 8

we MUST beat the roosters and eels then get 2 more wins somehow against dragons souths cowgirls Bulldogs

Have a little faith in the boys!

"This game is a must Win!" Why does everyone say that at round 18+ every year? Every game we play in the season should be a must win.

because we put ourself in the situation every year that we MUST win after rounds 18 to make the top 8 or top 4 that is why. even in 05 we have to must win 8 in a row to make the 8 just turned out we made the 4

Maybe if we start the season off like the Storm do we don't have to 'Must win' this time a year and only have to 'must win' for the number 1 spot

Spot on.

Hey finishing 8th this year would be great

Look at the table we would be playing the sharks at our home ground if it finished up the way it was finishng 8th would be the same as 5th for us.

and I hope storm and broncos keep losing so that all the games will be in Sydney finals time, helps us big time howewver if Broncos or storm slip to 5th it's a problem.

The aim tonight shouldn't be about winning, but about winning big.

We've bumbled our way through the season, fluking wins essentially and getting a very favourable draw in the mid season.

Its time for the Tigers to actually show some form, some fortitude, some heart.

Tonight, more than ever, Moltzen needs to jump when taking bombs and run the ball back himself.
Blair has to bust his arse in attack and defence all night.
Sironen needs to call for the ball more often.

Ayshford needs to loiter around Benji looking for inside passes.

Utai needs to stay on his [This word has been automatically removed]ing wing!

Heighington needs to push hard in every run, not give up the moment he hits the defence. I'll take an extra 3 metres every day over a slightly more frequently quicker play the ball.

Defence needs to work as a cohesive unit, not as a few small groups that move up and down at random.

And finally, can our backs please please PLEASE chase every kick in numbers. I'm sick of seeing our few good kicks per game get wasted because only 1-2 players have chased and the kick returning just throws a pass to his team mate and they steal an extra 10 metres.

This is killing us.

We need to make metres and we need to keep tams in their own half.

I think that regardless of where the team is positioned, every year with 6 or so games to go the games become must win. It is just that the goal shifts according to the current situation.

If we were at the top of the table, the aim would be to ensure the minor premiership. If we were bottom of the table, the aim would be to avoid the spoon. And with us sitting in 8th place, the aim is of course to make the top 8…
