Nathan Brown

Brown & Barnett very lucky.

Raiders players have taken the early plea including the other chap cited for a shoulder charge

I reckon Barnett is very lucky, But I suppose it is on par with with the actions and penalty to Darcy Lussick in the battle of Brooky ( I think)
I reckon Pangai was a bit harshly treated.
Lovett and Brown about right.

Im not sure that any of the Tigers actually threw a punch

brown should contest the charge and club should then make him do community work for treating players and staff like crap

Pangai started it and took swinging uppercuts at three different Wests Tigers players. He got what he deserved

Feel a bit sorry for Brown…. would suck to be suspended for fighting when you cannot apparently punch your way out of a wet paper bag. Its one thing to carry on like a muppet, another to fight like Kermit.

At the tigers & raiders game, that was the first time I really noticed Nathan ( havnt watch many 20's game this year )and don't know how I have missed him as he is a big unit, I wouldn't have started anything with him if I was the other team, to bad he is getting punished when he didn't start it but oh we'll he shouldn't have gone on with it like he did, I'm sure he will learn from this experience

I would have said pull your head in and use that emotion to bend the line on the field.

I dont believe a successful league team can have a no dickheads policy. There are a lot of dickheads playing next wednesday night.

Gallen was made to be a hero by his coach but I don't think that Todd Payten would have followed that line..

Under-20s rugby league brawlers face bans

Four Holden Cup under-20s rugby league players face a total of up to 14 weeks' suspension following Saturday night's ugly all-in brawl at Campbelltown Stadium.

As promised, the NRL on Monday came down hard on the brawlers after two players were sent off and another two were sin-binned during the Wests Tigers-Canberra game.

NRL boss David Smith issued all clubs a warning in the wake of Paul Gallen's State of Origin I scuffle with Nate Myles that fighting would not be tolerated - and the league has followed through.

Under the game's new no-biff policy, players will automatically be sin-binned for throwing a punch and the crackdown includes the Holden Cup.

The match review committee has hit Canberra's Tahakilu Pangai the hardest, slapping him with a grade-five contrary conduct charge.

Pangai can accept a three-game ban with an early guilty plea or fight the charge and risk copping a five-match suspension.

Teammate Mitchell Barnett was sent off and charged with grade-four contrary conduct and can take a three-match spell with an early guilty plea or be sidelined for four games if he unsuccessfully challenges the judiciary.

The Tigers' Nathan Brown was also sent off but initially refused to leave the field.

He copped a grade-three contrary conduct charge and faces two weeks out or a three-game ban if found guilty at the judiciary.

Fellow Tiger Kyle Lovett also faces two or three games in the stands after being hit with grade-two contrary conduct.

Adam Gee should be promoted to the NRL. Well handled.

Seriously no! Sure he handled the aftermath well but this whole incident could have been avoided. A few minutes earlier Barnett played the ball for Canberra and Brown pushed him over from marker and should have been penalised .Pangai probably thought he could get away with a cheapshot seeing as the refs didn't react to that. When the brawl erupted you could clearly see Barnett go looking for Brown for payback and had a few swings at him whilst held back and that's why Brown went berserk!
I'm just adding perspective and a little background to the incident and am not defending Browns antics, but perhaps the positive side to all this is that Lovett and Brown will have learnt a lot from this and can take this experience with them when they eventually play first grade for the mighty Weststigers!

Very Interesting read

funny how the time on the side line drops as u get into the older teams and the higher the grade u play. i had a 15 year old who throw one punch which missed any way, and penrith jrl robbed him out for 20 weeks.

Wests Tigers statement on Nathan Brown

Wests Tigers statement on Nathan Brown

Wests Tigers Under 20s forward Nathan Brown will accept a two-week suspension from the NRL match review committee after being charged with grade-three contrary conduct.

Wests Tigers view this behaviour as completely unacceptable and fully support the strong stance taken by the NRL.

Taking into account the game was nationally televised and 2000 junior league players were in attendance, Wests Tigers see this behaviour as completely unacceptable.

“We have a responsibility to our Members, supporters and other stakeholders to ensure that our players and staff in general are beyond question in their actions,” said Wests Tigers Chief Operating Officer, Grant Mayer.

“Having met with both Nathan and his manager, it is clear that Nathan is exceptionally remorseful, if not embarrassed, by his actions on Saturday night.

“No doubt the NRL has sanctioned our players appropriately, however the coaching staff and our Club generally need to be vigilant to ensure that this type of thing does not happen again.

“Nathan will work with the Club coaching staff in a number of different areas in the coming weeks in an effort to get back on the field for our Round 19 game against the Warriors.

“There are no guarantees, but we are all hopeful that Nathan embraces the opportunity.”

Nathan Brown has accepted the disciplinary action and issued the following statement.

“Saturday night was completely out of line and I want to apologise to my family, friends and the Wests Tigers supporters.” Brown said

“It’s completely out of character for me and I understand that I need to work hard to regain the trust of the people around me.

“Over the coming weeks I will be working with the club to ensure that when I return, I will support my teammates to achieve the best possible result for the remainder of the 2013 season.”

Brown’s teammate Kyle Lovett has accepted a one-week ban after taking the early guilty plea after being charged with grade-two contrary conduct by NRL match review committee for his role in the incident.

First time I saw the incident was today. I agree with the general sentiment, the Tigers players did not instigate but certainly lost their cool.

re Nathan Brown, he's obviously a hot-head, if you know a bloke like this then you know what it can be like trying to get them to calm down when they think they've been wronged. And fair enough, he was punched clean in the face without instigated anything (apart from running in, which the entire field was guilty of).

Personally, I'd love to see a bloke in our side who fires up, if he can use it to his advantage and not be undone by niggle. Compare this to Blake Ayshford who runs about on the field like a blank automaton. Hindmarsh has proven that any player can lose it if the opposition gets under their skin in the right circumstances, but clearly Brown needed to calm down once the blue had abated.

He does look a young fairer George Rose, aye.
