New look

I'm not a fan… Some comments:

* The floating orange banner up the top is very distracting
* The View New Posts section on the right is hard to distinguish between the thread topic and the user who posted. Maybe revert to the last format where the topic was bold/orange and user was regular/grey?
* Same comments re: Topic names on the homepage in the Last Post area - hard to easily distinguish the topic name as it's the same format as the username, time etc.
* I suspect the idea was to give the site a minimal look, but the absence of colours, different text etc makes it hard to browse the forum quickly - eg thread topics bold, sticky sections with different background colours etc. Everything just blends in to one

Would it be possible to add a feature that gives users a notification if someone quotes their post?

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it.

The site gets displayed differently from computer to computer. Mac, Windows, IE, Firefox… I have two monitors connected to my computer and it looks different depending on which monitor I am using. So any feedback like this is appreciated.

The new skin is supposed to be faster to load.

- I have made the text darker in posts
- the "new posts" topic title is bolder
- removed the reputation system
- implemented a "Like post" system

nope

Fair enough. Just that it's a feature that I quite like on another forum I use.

There is a ''notify me of replies'' box to check right next to this reply box

And that'll just notify me if someone actually quotes my post? I don't want one for every time someone posts anywhere in the thread.

YES! love it. how did you implement the like system so quickly? thought itd take a little time.

also, the text doesn't appear darker for me? maybe something needs to be reset like the server or my browser or cookies etc. etc.

Yep, it's got to do with the way that quotes are processed.
In phpbb (this forum software) a quote is simply a cut-and-paste of your text inbetween "quote" and "/quote" tags.

Other forum platforms do it differently and this allows for notifications to be sent.

This new look on my iPad mini looks great clear and crisp . Why bring back the Rep points I never get any! Good effort fellas keeping the site fresh .

I think it looks crap.

Care to elaborate or offer some constructive criticism instead of just saying that it looks bad?

the site just looks pretty bland and boring. the picture at the top i think is a massive step backwards from the picture that was there. i didnt like the previous change either but you end up just getting used to it and move on. ill do the same with this site in a week and wont remember the old look, by no means is it better now, just means this is the only west tigers forum to use for the best info. stuck with it whether you like the new look or not.

care to do better!?…remember these guys are doing us fans a SERVICE...

Yeah you're right,

I apologise profusely. I had a lapse in judgement and I forgot to take the party stance of harmony. How dare I ever decide to have an opinion, by what right did I presume to have my own thoughts. I retract my statement that this site "looks crap" and like to amend my statement to "this is the best website I have ever seen, the supreme powerful leaders of this forum are infallible and I shall never again dare to put forward a statement disagreeing with the party line"

Our dear all powerful benevolent supreme leaders please forgive a lowly peasant and accept my humble apology for ever daring to step outside the party guide lines.

Hey New Look,
Loosen up. This is a great place to join in some conversation. All voluntarily set up and maintained. If you take offence that easily, brace yourself for the 2014 footy season!!!

With the very feint text in use I find it very hard to read the text. A darker/bolder (and possibly slightly larger) text would definitely be an improvement.

How condescending…dear "lowly peasant"...by all means have your opinion, no one suggested you don't have that right, but present it respectfully and if you can, offer an alternative rather than just put it down like you did...you are obviously not a boomer or gen x!
