I'm salivating at the thought of Tuiaki, Tuqiri and Moltzen being given 20 - 30 metres of free space in front of them on kick returns. This will be of great benefit to us….

This is why I cannot understand why the hell people wouldn't want Lote at FB… he will be devastating!

Not as devastating as Lawrence would be :sunglasses:

makes it incredibly important for a kicker to be able to find dirt with their long kicks. Something we haven;t been too good with in the past.
Hopefully Lui will be able to do that. Teams with good dummy half kickers (Robbie's one of the best) are also hugely advantaged by it.

That's a great point….give the guy the ball on the full and he'll have the 1st tackle on the 40 every time.

Does anyone know where the penalty is given? I'd imagine where the guy kicked it from right? That's a harsh punishment so we'll need to be very disciplined....

K.Hunt shouldn't have left the NRL. He would have liked this new rule.

Lui found the grass with ease against the Sharks, but he'll really need to make sure he brings his kicking game against Manly on Monday. Can't be giving Stewart too much room to move.

So the referee has to note when the ball in mid air crosses the ruck position and whether any players are in front of it AND what their intention is. There will be some head-scratching over this. It's likely to bring the video ref in again, especially if a try was scored by the kicking side.

Rules that require the ref to judge the player's intention are always a pain-in-the-neck.

union has had a similar rule in forever & it seems to work fairly well.
as league now has 4 onfield officials plus the video ref you'd think they'd be able to get it right.
really they will
surely
there's a chance at least
