Mate - I am sick of hearing/reading the term "benefactor" applied to these private owners!!
They may take liability for some debt from cash-strapped & weak club's - but their ownership belies long-term shallow pockets & a view to get a return on their minimal investment via a commercially-driven exit strategy!!
They just want to hold the Premiers Trophy - get the photos taken & frick off (just look at Max Delmege)!!!!
Harry's investment will be re-paid in positive PR/media coverage - and that is ALL he wants!!!
He only flicked us when Lamb, Hoppa, Field & Buddha made us a laughing stock!!!
Hammer - I am one of those blokes who does not believe in altruism from hard-nosed businessmen in these cases!!! Forgive me for my cynicism - but as a contracts man - I can assure you any clause for repatriation of the club would be very much in Tinkler's favour!!
Mate, Harry waited till we were successful to throw the big bucks behind us again. He could see we have a competent board, great players and a good brand.
Tinkler has to fix a organization that has in-fighting and under performed for a decade. There is only one way to do that, and it's not from sponsorship.
Harry will get far more return from his investment than Tinkler will!
One could argue though that Harry wanted us to pay penance for said disgraces Hammer, which soiled his organisations name on the front of our jersey.
If Harry was truly out to capitalise on our success, you would have seen Meriton apartments on our jersey in 2006.
