NFL 2023-24 Season Thread

Not a broncos fan (🤮) but there is a chance to see the G.O.A.T live here in Brisbane for any NFL fans.

I initially thought you meant Nathan “Gary” Lyons then when I saw it was NFL I thought it was Joe Montana !!!

Texans ran 31st out of 32 teams in 2022/23. Just won a playoff game scoring 45 points. Drafted a QB and edge rusher and now they are a Smokey to make the Super Bowl less than one year on.

Bring on a player draft NRL. Crazy not to.

Bengals supporter but I wanted the Browns to get up.

The draft was correctly found to be a restraint of trade under Australian law so it will never happen in the NRL!

It only exists in AFL by consent with the players association - and would go down in flames if legally challenged by a disgruntled draftee as per the Hill case.

Texans also astutely brought in former 49ers Defensive Coordinator DeMeco Ryans as their new Head Coach which has been equally critical to their success this season as the drafting of Stroud!

Another quality Kyle Shanahan's protege - who are scattered across the league with Saleh and McDaniels moving from 49ers support staff to Head Coach roles at Jets and Dolphins in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

The draft is not fool-proof either - heaps of First round QB busts around the league too meaning Stroud is actually the exception to recent QB draft classes!

My 49ers Niners hit the jackpot with the absolute last pick of the 2022 draft showing intangible qualities that none of the NFL scouts saw in him - with Mr Irrelevant" Brock Purdy putting up historical franchise numbers in his first full season.

But prior to that we traded up to draft Trey Lance in the first round in 2021- and injuries along with the rise of Purdy in his absence means he is now warming the bench behind Dak at the Cowboys (the equivalent of NFL purgatory)!

I don’t see Chiefs winning the superbowl, they’ll probably go down swinging against Buffalo next week (if Steelers lose)

But the contrast in their style of play has done a complete 180. Last year and the year before they were an offensive powerhouse. You score 30, they’ll score 33. Fast forward to this year they lose a couple receivers, bring in some rookies (who have been ok but not the best crop to come through)

Now their defense wins them games, something like 16 points during the regular season and completely suffocated the dolphins today to only 1 rush TD

Demarco Ryans has done wonders 4 the Texans.
CJ Stroud has had one heck of a year too - great
turnaround. Cooper Rush has been listed as DNP
all week and questionable 4 tomorrow. Wishful
thinking but I want the Cowboys to blow the
Packers away and see him in the 4th quarter lol

If Texans end up playing ravens I give them an outside chance of an upset .. Stroud is impressive

Yeah play-offs are shapping up real nice bro!
Lost last time they played but can definately
beat the Ravens, they have a 4-4 record away
this season, going to be a great contest that's
4 sure, Same as Bills & KC. Cowboys Vs Lions
rematch is going to be spicy if they get past Rams

Rams are another team heating up, Stafford is injury free and that rookie is insane (name beats me)
They have something like an 8-1 record their past 9 games only losing to ravens in OT

Wouldn’t write them off v lions either mate

Can’t dispute any of that. I still believe the next Kalyn Ponga or Suallii should go to the one of the sides competing for the spoon. It’s the main reason I enjoy NFL more than the sport I grew up on. Salary cap doesn’t work.

Reid, Mahomes and that D!! Crazy to write them off. The rookie WR is improving too.

Puka Nakua. I think if Rams beat Lions it ends for them in San Fran. Defense has been way better than expected but is too inexperienced.

I know how bad is it
been supporting the bills since the late 80's and being a ex balmain supporter I had a depressing few years losing GF's and Superbowls...
Jim Kelly was one of the most talented passing QBs of his era and was dominant throughout every one of those 4 regular seasons that culminated in successive Superbowl losses - and while I can forgive him for the loss in 1991 by just one point after being targeted by Lawrence Taylor all game.

He shat the bed against the Redskins and twice against Dallas (and as a staunch 49er I was all in on the Bills against the Cowboys frauds)!

Steelers are pretenders this season - Bills should do it easy unless Josh Allen loses his shit and starts throwing picks as he can be prone to do.

Hard to predict Bills-Chiefs after that - the umpires really do give the Chiefs some highly questionable latitude...
