I support Weststigers (10 years playoff drought) and Sacramento Kings (15 year playoff drought) so looking forward to the NFL season where my team has a good chance to make the finals.. Patriots for me and I think a few of the top teams will regret not picking Mac Jones up. He looks the goods to me even though not athletic for Qtr back but a very good passer and fingers crossed the Tom Brady replacement for the long term.

I support the Wests Tigers, we all know the history there.

I support the Bengals who haven't won a playoff game since 1991, that's right 30 years.

This is my third year as a Bengal. What made you follow them? Was the obvious Tigers link?

A very long and detailed story to be honest. I started following the game in the late 80s as about a 10 year old. Don Lane used to have an hour long recap show on the ABC. The Bengals made 2 Superbowls in 1988 and 89 losing them both, sound familiar? I then played madden for the 1st time around 1990 and the Superbowls and the Tigers link decided to play as them once they were included. I followed them through the 90s through scores in the paper and eventually following the scores online, though didn't miss much as they were horrible the entire 90s.

With the arrival of Carson Palmer in 2005, I started downloading games illegally to watch and then transitioned to NFL Gamepass and haven't missed a Bengals game in well over a decade. I attended my 1st and only Bengals game for the season opener in Cleveland in 2011, Andy Dalton and Green's 1st games. We got a win that day and made the playoff for the following 6 season and losing the wildcard game each time.

I now spend as much time on a Bengals forum as I do here and follow them just as closely as the Wests Tigers.

Your story is pretty much identical to mine. Only instead of Bengals I luckily chose New Orleans Saints because of the Black and Gold connection. While the 90’s were horrible, things turned when we landed Drew Brees in ‘03. It’s been mostly winning seasons since then… The Don Lane recap show was brilliant. They showed all the highlights except for Monday Night Football where Don just read out the score.

I really hope the Bengals first contact in D has improved, it was awful last year. I usually record a couple of games per week on ESPN and watch them back. I’m still learning the game but I really do love how every play in D and O has such a big impact on the next play. Did we make the right draft picks?

You should join the Bengals forum, thebengalsboard.com I don't post a lot over there but it helped me learn more about the game.

Just might do that…cheers. What do you reckon about our draft picks?

I really wanted Sewell, the Oline was critical for us but at the time of the draft thought it was a pass mark. Of course our picks are cursed and Ossai is out for the season and Chase has had a case of the drops. I am also very worried about the rumours surrounding Chase as well.

Sewell having his struggles also, though early days in New position.
Ossai looked awesome but curse has struck. Although Carl Lawson also done his Achilles at the Jets.
Chase looks to have hands like mck. Which is a problem when catching is your job.
Jackson Carmen struggling but Smith and udfa Darius Hodge are impressing.

Chase dropped another bad one today

ZT should have left him.out there until he caught 1, for confidence.
Whole 1st unit only played 3 snaps

Yep, he's potentially awful. Everything about that play was ugly. Predictable, low upside play, horribly mistimed, easily read and badly botched by your #5 pick. I watched that play and I thought, 'damn, it's going to be another year like that, hey?'. Maybe passing on a potentially great tackle for a WR who is also great is okay, but to do it for a dud is absolutely atrocious. Mike Brown completely overvalued wide receivers. The Bengals have always had great wide receivers and terrible teams (excusing a five year period of almost success). In my opinion, wide receiver was about the last position we had a need in.

Sewell apparently going badly too:

I'm so jaded by football that this actually makes me happy.

And here's this article on the draft bust that was Jerry Rice:

It could be okay.

Anyone know of any companies in AU that sell offical nfl game jerseys?

Would like to get a jaguars one in the future

I usually get mine from the states, Bengals have a new one this year so will be shopping soon.

I've bought a heap of 49ers gear from their official store via they're website which I've found to be the most reliable.

Check out this site as they're Aussie owned www.ussportsdownunder.com.au/collections/nfl-jerseys.

Be careful with some of the online stores though if they're not linked to the team in an official capacity. There's a few that claim to be legit authentic merch sellers on behalf of the NFL such as www.nfljerseyfans.pro. This particular site has had at least 5 different name changes that I'm aware of. They even use official logos and terminology however when you go over the site with a fine comb many things don't add up. Multiple spelling mistakes in their bio pages etc. I made the mistake of ordering something once from them however it wasn't till after the purchase did I begin to notice all the flaws. They're basically a Chinese knock off mob disguised as an official certified NFL seller.

After purchase I didn't receive an order confirmation and when attempting to contact them regarding the order the replier was always replying from a personal email rather than a company one and was always someone different. Couple months after the order placed no item received.

Some absolutely epic stadiums in the US. Only personally been to Levi in Cali and Metlife in NY but both real nice. Metlife in middle of winter on a windy -4 degree day was interesting though.

Patriots release Cam Newton.

Mac Jones named starter.

I'm excited. This guy is the next Drew Brees, he is smart as hell and may prove the best QB in this class.

Yep he needs a bit of help but all the talent. I think Mac will have a longer career however.

I damn wish the jags could protect Trevor as much as the patriotd protected mac jones...

@cochise Prediction for the games against the Vikings?

I'm going real pessimistic because I can't bear having expectations anymore and I have no belief in Zac or Mike Brown: Guessing we lose 31-17 with offense not getting going due to bad Oline and Defense having quality patches but not being able to stop the Vikings at important times. Chase will be contained but won't have major drops.

I'm tipping us to get up, more start of season excitement than any belief we will genuinely be much better this year.

Will be avoiding this thread on Monday until I get a chance to catch the game lol
