Nofo injury

Problem is that the wing position is, by definition, responsible for covering the decisions of the inside men. Technically, if the front line did their defensive job perfectly, the fullback would never need to make a tackle. But of course with a FB out the back, the opposition always has a potential overlap in attack.

So the winger can't only be responsible for his own patch, he has to make vital decisions when the inside men are challenged, whether it be overlap, mistake, missed tackle etc.

Of course wingers will get beaten regularly, because it's a natural weak point for every team, and which is why wingers usually score the most tries for every team every season.

Nofo turns like an ocean liner and does not have a natural feel for defensive wing work. So in my opinion whilst he is not responsible for all the defensive errors, he creates defensive errors where better wingers don't, and he fails to cover up mistakes from the inside, where better wingers do cover.

Compare him even to Corey Thompson, who is half his size, but has a much better instinct for defending his wing.

That's just what you get with Nofo. Trade off between the good yardage and the higher-than-average defensive lapses.

It's a fair point. When Addo-Carr was here, he made plenty of errors, but was quick enough to rectify them mid-field.

Sad

Get well soon…lets hope the replacement can punch out 150+ m a game

I’m sure now the rhs wont concede a point

Good and bad results. Fonua made 170m but still a try conceded on the rhs.

Yes, but it took a 3 man overlap, and 3 forward passes for Manly to go in to score in Fonua’s corner…

Yeah those forward passes were so obvious I could see them from front on at the game. The pass that initiated the break was the worst of the lot…

The good thing with WT at this stage of events, for the first time in a long, long time, we have real competition for almost all positions across the field. Nofo will have to earn his recall when opportunity comes.
