Norths Story in Daily Telegraph

JT went pretty good too like him or not....going back a ways a guy called Ken Irvine was legendary.

The biggest injustice was their expulsion from the main comp.

Absolutely. It’s a travesty the game was taken away from North Sydney Oval. One of the saddest things in Rugby League. Most picturesque sports ground in Australia.

Who at Norths agreed that if the merger went bust that Manly would get the license?

Visually a pretty ground, but terrible oval to watch footy at because of the angle. And for those who complain about parking at Leichardt, Nth Sydney horrendous.

Agreed. Great to walk into and look about, like Petersham Oval.

But Nth Sydney has a circular fence around a rectangular pitch and oblique viewing angles as you noted. If I'm not mistaken, one of the stands isn't only on the wide side of the oval, it's also a full stretch of tarmac away from the fence.

I'd take a guess that Ken Arthurson had a fair bit to do with how Manly were the ones that stayed in the comp.

A few years ago I was preferring Reggie's footy to NRL, watching games at NSO, LO, Henson Belmore & Lidcombe... It's real pure RL with real RL people unlike all the commercial crap of NRL

fulton was also running around hitting the ball up for the ARL

The late mike Gibson ,a journalist I enjoyed, used to say the bears team could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
exactly how wests tigers fans now feel about golden point matches!

just get rid of the titans and souths and bring back the bears and the steelers.

that tree was always an OH and S issue...times were simpler back then...we used to have to wait for announcements to know scores for other games. League was good then...don't know why...

Would have preferred Norths had survived over Manly or Souths

Andrew Willis Field Goal 96 Hell Yeah

I agree. That team had some buzz about it, and north sydney oval is just beautiful. Same it is under-used

Mate it might look beautiful but have you ever played footy on it? Sheez!! It’s a killer!!

Ooh yeah. Centre square like concrete. Storey Park up at Asquith was worse though.
