There was another theatre further down Liverpool Rd towards Croydon. It might have been called the Astor. Went to movies in both theatres. I remember watching Ride the Wild Surf at the Kings when I was 13. Barbara Eden, the object of a few of my teenage 'fantasies' was in it.

That's right... Down past the town hall
It made way for Ashfield mall

It was a big deal to get to go to the movies when I was a kid... Exciting and a rare event

I grew up with a family who revered Don Bradman etc etc.

Here is a historic graph of his runs scored when he made his 334 (the then world record score in Test cricket) in the Third Test against England, held at the Headingley ground in Leeds in July 1930.
