Yes, all the banks had them - I can remember having one from the National Bank which had a pretend lock to a safe. 🤣Still have one of those in a display cabinet at home, well I thought I had one but looks like it went walk about.
Did however find this Bank of New South Wales treasure chest money box complete with cardboard box.
Early 70's I think and they also came in red.

Fighting with my siblings over who got to make a call Or who was going to answer it. My dad ending the argument by pressing the button on the phone.
I miss the rave days calling up on the night to find out where the party is. Used to meet up at Town Hall steps before heading to the party.Looks like a good rave place.
I used to live on Parramatta Rd in Stanmore where my mother had a hairdressing salon. I often used to play in the old movie theatre building which once was even a roller skating ring. I used to climb across the rafters with a 50 foot maybe more drop to the old floor. I often frequented the old milk bar but always felt you were taking your life in your own hands. The place back then early 70s had faded signs and a decor that looked outdated.I heard recently that the Olympia milk bar has closed. I think it was near the picture theatre on Parramatta road, left hand side as you head west. My family owned a pub near by.
Just wondering if anyone had ever gone into the Olympia and if you wouldn’t mind telling us about your experience?
Youd have to explain to the kids on here what a book is, not just the brown paper cover.
Great memories there - and then there's this thing called progress. Those from Newcastle know this little beauty

😂 As a kid I loved going into places like that. You never knew if the floor boards would give way they creaked so loudly.I used to live on Parramatta Rd in Stanmore where my mother had a hairdressing salon.
