On this day in 1999, Herschelle Gibbs dropped one of the costliest catches in World Cup history.
Australia were 3/152 after 31 overs when Gibbs dropped a catch off Steve Waugh. Waugh then allegedly said to Gibbs, "How does it feel to drop the World Cup?"
Waugh went on to score a century and win the match by 5 wickets with 2 balls remaining. Australia went on to win the World Cup as well.

Tugga, in his biography, mentioned, "When we crossed paths mid-pitch, I couldn’t resist a jibe in our ongoing verbal battle. 'Hey, Herschelle,' I said, 'do you realize you’ve just cost your team the match?'

I still think he caught it as a reflex and threw it away when he remembered him and hanzie were on the take.
