Before "tap and go" we had:


Insert card into imprinter;
imprint card;
Tear off top sheet: fold / fold / tear / tear (if you were trained properly!)
Write in date; description of merch; price paid; dept number; assist number; payment type; make sure it was signed in front of you; check signature;
Ring up sale correctly, ensuring that docket was imprinted correctly;
then top copy in cash drawer;
yellow copy with receipt to customer: "your receipt is in your bag, with your merchandise";
green copy to docket box.
