Pass the time with Car Cricket
One person at a time is selected to 'bat', and they score 'runs' when certain cars are spotted. For cars to count as runs they must be moving and travelling in the opposite direction.
You’ll need a scorer with pen and paper.
- White cars (and silver/grey) are worth one run
- Black and coloured cars (excluding red) are worth two runs
- Motorbikes are worth four runs
- Buses are worth six runs
- Red cars are a 'wicket' and get you out
After everyone in the car has had a turn to bat, the person with the most runs wins.
You may want to make a score limit so players have to retire if they make 100 runs.

Wukchumni, a Native American language from California, had never been written down. When its last speaker was gone, the language would vanish forever.
So Marie did something extraordinary.
With no computer experience, she taught herself how to use a computer. Then, day after day, she sat at a keyboard and began typing her language from memory — word by word, meaning by meaning. For seven years, she worked almost daily, determined not to let her ancestors’ voices disappear.
The result was a 6,000-word Wukchumni dictionary, the first written record of the language in history. She also helped create audio lessons so future generations could hear how the language truly sounded.
Marie passed away in 2021, but Wukchumni did not die with her.

This name is displayed on the side of the train, typically as a plaque or part of the livery, honouring the legendary Australian jockey.
Other V/Line Sprinter trains are also named after notable Victorian sportspeople, such as Lionel Rose, Kirstie Marshall, and Louise Dobson.

Have forwarded this to Mrs HB, coz she’s a chronic “ Snerdler “.
So it isn’t just good manners, we were taught as kids to always acknowledge that a driver stopped for you. It was right up there with thanking the driver when you got off the bus.
