Scott Neeson had a successful career in Hollywood, eventually becoming president of international distribution at 20th Century Fox and working with major films such as Titanic, Braveheart, and X-Men.
In 2003, while taking a break between jobs, he traveled to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and visited the Stung Meanchey garbage dump. He was shocked to see more than 1,000 children living and working around the dump, searching through waste for anything they could sell or use.
The experience stayed with Neeson.
In 2004, he left his Hollywood career and moved to Cambodia, selling his mansion, Porsche, and yacht.
He founded the Cambodian Children’s Fund, which began by helping children living in extreme poverty and later expanded into education, healthcare, housing, nutrition, and vocational training.
More than two decades later, the organization continues its work in Cambodia, helping thousands of people build safer and more stable futures.
