Now THAT'S a reserve grader.....

Everybody complaining that Lawrence , Moltzen and Ayshford were reserve graders and should be replaced by the young guys playing so much better than them in the lower grades finally got to see how REAL reserve graders go when thrust into the top grade.
Maybe we can all sit back and realise you don't become an instant champion when you pull on a first grade jumper- it takes time and lot's of hard work.
Being able to look good against Z graders doesn't always cut the mustard.

Lawrence IS a reserve grader, even with that lacklustre performance I would put him in NSW Cup. But you definitely have a point and Aysh and Moltz are alright. I've liked Aysh this whole season, he just seems to get lumped with Lawrence since he's not scoring a bucketload of tries either.

Simona would do much better defensively there with a full week training at 3 not 17.

You make a fair point ck but I think people are disappointed because the players you have referred to have been in the top grade for a while now and should be doing better.

 Lawrence has been utter dross for 18 months.

Simona created more in his little time on the field last nigh then gimpy has all year

Tedesco had a very solid game last night in a well beaten team, what exactly would moltzen have done better?
Lawrence has been rubbish all year, Thompson was a poor selection in the centres and it showed but Simona in 20 odd minutes showed spark missing from Lawrence this year.
Ayshford has been solid this but his replacement reddy was hardly the reason we lost.
The 3 players you mentioned would have made no difference at all to the scoreboard last night, well not in a positive way anyway.

We did not lose that game last night because of our young players. In fact I'd rate all of them above benji Blair farah last night.

Agree with that, his footwork immediately had the dogs on the backfoot and he should be starting next week. Tedesco was also good behind a badly beaten forward pack. I like the look of Sue as well, he hits the line hard.

Lawrence isn't a reserve grader, obviously….
He's a quality player... However the poor bloke is busted physically.. Speaking with Paul sirro he told me that Lawrence has played every game this season with a knee, ankle, and hamstring injury, the hammy still related to the hip in '11

I have no idea what your trying to say. What youngsters are you talking about that replaced the players you mentioned? Reddy replaced Lawrence (not young). Thompson replaced Ayshford (not young and out of position), Tedesco and Sirro who can be claimed to replace Moltz both played well.

So the only 2 youngsters that replaced the guys u mentioned were actually an improvement. Throw in the short stint of Simona and i think the game shows your post is completely wrong and we must bring more youngsters in with Simona to start, maybe Tagele on the wing, and start Sue in the backrow or start Ava up front pushing Buchanan to lock. Young young young is the way to go and your thread has pointed that out.

No doubt the poor guy has injury probs. but does that mean he is an automatic selection each week.

Sorry KS - the point was three guys who get bagged every week as being reserve grade quality (and I should have thrown Anasta in as well to make it four) aren't there.
Well , others replaced them and didn't really set the world on fire - we were lucky not to be beat by 60.
Everybody seems to think you can just throw someone in and it's problem fixed.
Seems that wasn't the case.

lol stupid thread tbh.

none of the reserve graders disappointed.. it was only the seasoned first graders like blair and benji that were the disappointing ones.

dont think anyone expected the young forwards to shine from their first game, maybe you did?

No I didn't (if you read what I said you would see that).
How many times on this forum do you see 'dump those guys and throw this or that guy in and we'll be unbeatable'?
And although most of the young guys ,or second stringers, put in on Friday they are simply not up to full time first grade standard (yet)

i have only ever seen that being said on this thread (by you).. no one else is saying it.. you are. it's all in your head

Agree with a lot of the posts here; but could someone enlighten me. Why did we lose the game 40-4 if it wasn't the reserve graders? Surely Benji and Blair didn't combine to score 7 tries for the Dogs and prevent the others from scoring more than 1? Bodene at centre wasn't the best move, easy to see in hindsight and Teddy, Simona, Sirro and Reddy definitely didn't let the team down

Genuinely curious

the whole backrow was ineffective.. fulton can never be expected to dish it out of our own half…spence hardly played

ergh of course! i was thinking that while watching the game made another post about how weird it was that the backs were taking so many gorram hitups!! Reddy especially, he can't exactly fill in for Ayshford in terms of dirty metres…

thanks mate

CK still pushing the Moltzen barrow I see…give it a rest your man Moltzen will never play fullback again in this team.

Lawrence replaced by Simona who looked good last night and also the last time he played in the top grade I remember last year he looked sharp as well. He has to be there starting next week.
Ayshford replaced by Reddy who did Ok why he had to put his hand on the ball going dead however I don't know.
