Still looks to be primarily an impact player IMO. Pretty good looking side, hope they can get the bacon. I reckon Sila will be up for it.

Summary:

The Wests Tigers bounced back from an indifferent first forty minutes against the Bears to post an 18 point win last weekend, while the Bulldogs came from behind to snatch a draw against the Cutters. We made mention last week that while the Dogs finals hopes were over, they loomed as a side that could disrupt others on the run to September, and that proved to be the case last Saturday. In fact, had it not have been for some inaccurate goal kicking, the Dogs might have well claimed both competition points. John Sila scored his first try for the Tigers last weekend and he will no doubt be looking forward to pulling on the boots against his old club here. Kurtis Rowe has been named to return from injury for the Tigers which should help alleviate some pressure on the likes of Jack Madden and Michael Stevens in the halves. The Bulldogs backline looked sharp, particularly in the second half against the Cutters, so the Tigers defence will need to be on their guard this Saturday, otherwise an upset may well be on the cards. This VB NSW Cup clash will be followed by the annual Women’s Interstate Challenge between NSW and QLD, so get to the ground early and settle in for a full day of footy action.

Second Chance Draw:

A top four finish is so vital to a sides premiership chances as it gives them that all important second bite at the apple. Take last year for example. The Cronulla Sharks finished the season as minor premiers, however they went down to the Windsor Wolves 24-22 in week one, but then bounced back, thanks to the second chance, with three consecutive victories to claim the premiership. The Tigers, despite sitting in third spot, will still be looking in the rear view mirror over the concluding rounds. A number of the chasing sides below the Tigers have a bye in hand and comparable for and against, so the gap between them and the pack is not as great as it may appear. It is important that the Tigers keep winning to maintain their spot and that needs to start here.

Prediction: The Tigers won’t want to let this one slip at home. Tigers by 4.
 
The Wests Tigers gave a very good run towards the finals , playing 6 home games in their final 7 games of the regular season.

The Wests Tigers are on 26 pts (3rd) and even if they win all their remaining games , I can't see them going past Penrith , the comp leaders on 32pts.

The massive capitulation of Rd 16 against the Mounties ,where Wests had the game in total control , leading 26-6 with 14 minutes to go , & the Tigers ended up losing 30-26 , and this sad duck a decent wager.Fletch & the team might look at that last precious 14 minutes at Campbelltown as what cost them WT the Minor Premiership

If the injury Gods be finally kind to 1st grade & this team , IMO , its all shaping up for a Penrith Vs Wests Tigers Grand Final . Penrith smashed us , 40-20 in round 17 at Leichhardt & earlier in the year at Penrith 22-14 , so they have the wood on us .Hopefully, Fletcher can keep the team from wandering in & out of games & play every game for the full 80 minutes , from now on.
If Fletch can do this , they are in for a very good chance for us Wests Tigers fans to celebrate on GF day , Reserve Grade Premiers since the early 80s ( Western Suburbs -1981 & Balmain in '82 & '84)….a 30 year hoodoo .

Hope this unified Wests Tigers team gets great cheering home crowds to give the guys the best possible chance to win the comp after just the 2nd year united .

With the under 20s just 2 points from Newcastle , the comp leaders & with nearly all games with teams far below them , we could at least have 2 grades deep into the finals.

The future so bright ....
 
Not a very inspiring effort today from our State Cup side. Based on that effort I don't think we can depend too much on these players making first grade. One exception however could be Santini.

Our second tier cap is gone so I doubt we'll be calling up Santi.

I think that is a little harsh, he was cruising along quite well until he lost key players to first grade. His halves are capable at best and the dogs are always a big skilful side.
 
Halfback didn't play again.

Madden was god awful

Ref was a disgrace.

That said it was lost in the pigs. They ran through the WT side and there was a lack of aggression, passion and desire. Buchanan and Hitchcox had a dig.

Rowe was worse than HIV
 
They are missing Moses & Stevens big time by the sounds of things.
It's a pity because a win against the 2nd lowest team on the ladder , would have put them 4 competition points from Penrith, after they narrowly lost to the Jets yesterday.

Santi has been terrible in defence in the last few games, simple missed tackles one on one leading to tries does not deserve a call up to first unless he's contributing in attack, which he hasn't IMO.
 
Fletch was cruising until injuries to 1st grade meant more re-shuffling of our Reggies squad. He had Austin, Moses, Marika & Mr T at the start of the season, played a chunk of games without Rowe at fullback also. When your second row has to play 5/8 you know you're not going to trouble a lot of teams offensively.
 
When we played the dogs at Belmore last year Mr T scored 4 tries over Sila, this time the dogs scored 3 tries on Sila's side. Can't defend to save his life! in his games so far he has been found out nearly every time they attack his side. :brick: At least when Koro made a bad read he turned and chased, this guy just smiles, shakes his head and jogs 50 meters back for the conversion!! lol
 
I was wondering how Sila was going. Doesn't sound overly promising which is a great shame as it's no secret we're down on numbers out wide in firsts atm.
