NSW Cup Round 5 Team Announcement

Wests Tigers have named their VB NSW Cup team to take on Manly Sea Eagles in Round 5 of the competition at Leichhardt Oval this Sunday.

The Club will be looking to continue their winning ways after a last-gasp victory over the New Zealand Warriors in Wellington last weekend courtesy of three tries in the final seven minutes — including one after the siren to five-eighth Blake Austin.

Head Coach Paul Fletcher again urging his team to continue with consistency and ball control as they sought to extend their winning streak for another week.

Being on the bench means nothing in terms of pecking order. Akauola was on the bench for NSW cup last week and he's in the NRL this week. Daine Laurie is another I recall going from bench for NSW cup to bench for NRL for his debut.

One guy I can't get my head around is Jy Hitchcox. I cannot for the life of me figure out how he has remained a fringe NSW cup player for so many years. Every time I see him or hear talk of him he seems every bit an NRL player. He'd have to be looking elsewhere for opportunities shortly surely.
