After yesterday you could flick Bird Lewis to lock and bring Hoffman in and would seriously look at Gibbs in for Galloway NSW needs to find a way of upsetting Qld's spine Good line speed on both sides of the ruck will do that Willow You have it with Gallen on one side

Bird has line speed but isn't terribly frightening Gibbs may be the answer

Hoffman is not origin quality, he's too much like Creagh, he dominates his little corridor but offers little outside of that. Bird, whilst not in the best of form, always lifts when he puts on the sky blue jersey. I can't think of a bad game he's played for the Blues but I can think of several blinders he's had. He'd be a definite starter in the back row in my book.

Would be my side, except I would have Jennings in for Josh Morris if he is fit. How some people are picking Merrin ahead of Woods has me baffled. Woods is a gun and he is ready now.

Bird is a strong runner, has very good ball skills for a back rower and has venom in defence. Ricky just needs to get in his ear and get the crap (diving) out of his game. Like Matty Johns said about Mason, he's a lunatic, but he's our lunatic.

Except you have only 3 props 2 of which are on debut and one who doesn't play in that position every week.
Not the smartest way to go into game 1 when NSW haven't won in a decade.
Yes i know Gallen plays like a prop and the famous 80m performance but don't expect that to happen every game.

Thanks Stripes - wish I was picking the team. Perhaps I'll email it to Ricky and see what kind of response I get :laughing: I'd still stick with Stewart at the back, though. I like Coote, but I reckon being in a team like that would bring out the best in Stewart, who I believe is second only to Slater as the best fullback in the NRL.

You're right about the props Tiger, but I just couldn't bring myself to select guys like Weyman, Merrin, King or Mannah, who have been there before, but have been totally outclassed. I thought a few fresh big boppers were needed, but I guess I would probably add Mannah out of that lot just to have a fourth prop. Who would he replace though? I like both Williams and Hoffman. Any other suggestions for prop?
