NYC Preview: Forward pack pleases Payten
Wests Tigers NYC Coach Todd Payten rates prop Mosese Fotuaika as ‘the strongest kid’ he has come across in his 16 years of rugby league.
Fotuaika received the Players’ Player Award in last week’s disappointing loss to the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium which left the team in fifth place ahead of tomorrow night’s clash against the Melbourne Storm at Leichhardt Oval.
The Storm go into the last regular match of the season in eighth place, just two points behind Wests Tigers but with a worse differential margin.
Payten said he was pleased with the performance of his forwards in recent weeks.
“Mosese has been a cornerstone over the last six to seven weeks. He’s become our forwards leader,’’ Payten said.
“While he mightn’t say much, he leads by his actions and the guys enjoy playing with him. “
“I thought our forwards really stood up against the Roosters. Their aggression and intent is what we need for the rest of the year.
“Nathan Brown took out the Coaches’ Award. His enthusiasm and impact off the bench has been awesome. He runs hard in attack and gets off the line in defence.”
