Why aren’t we taking concord oval into consideration as our home ground once the COE is developed?

It’s being upagraded to hold 25,000, it’s connected via major transport links and it’s close to the city for out of Sydney fans.

Better yet we would only have to share it with two Shute shield clubs rather than NRL rivals.

It will have room for about 2000 people

It previously held 20,000. I’ve had a look at the plans and both stands are being increased in size.

So is concord not a viable option?

You need to have another look, the stands are gone

Hard to tell is it tiered seating now?

It has enough seats for the pirates, that’s it

It’s hard to find exact info on the new capacity. Canada Bay only talk in general terms on their press releases. Even the developer’s site had limited info on capacity. To me it looks like a small amount of seating for local weekend teams.

I can’t see it being less than 20,000 which is on par with Leichhardt and Campbeltown. I’d prefer a new state of the art ground + facilities that’s our homebase rather than continuing to be wandering nomads that play out of Liverpool, BankWest or the SFS

Sent Canada Bay council an email asking what the new capacity will be. Interesting to see if they answer.

Concord stadium no longer exists. It is being replaced by the West’s Tigers COE (western side) and a community sports complex (northern side). The eastern side is just going to be a hilled terrace and the northern end has nothing. 2,000 sounds about right in terms of capacity. I’m happy there is the new COE but it is a bit weird it was all knocked down just before they built a metro station between parramatta and the CBD just around and corner and the it is right at the key intersection of the West Connex. They could have easily built a stadium there

Zero chance of a stadium there, it is literally (kinda) a long walk from Homebush

For me we have to go to the southwest. I truely hate to say it I mean it’s just not a good place I mean Campbelltown is just so dead. But if we want this club to do anything at all in the next decade we need to get things right off the field. If we have a sustainable leagues club and a good home ground where we can draw proper crowds (15 - 25k) the fact is we probably have the most fans in the NRL. But we’re not engaging them we’re not marketing the team correctly and at the moment we’re not owning any part of Sydney at all. We need to engage fans in the southwest because they are more fragile. Fans from Balmain will always be engaged in the club and even if they don’t say it now they will trek out to the middle of nowhere too watch us play. We can build and parramatta , Penrith style club in Sydney’s southwest. If we stay the way we are we’re just going to continue to lose fans who are fed up. It’s bad for the club and bad for the game

May have been a tad to harsh on campbelltown

V’landys is a Wanker ..

Liverpool is Tiger territory.

It’s Bulldogs territory. The Bulldogs know it and more importantly the NRL knows it. Liverpool is the Bulldogs takeover v2.0.

Uhh no it isn’t. Where the stadium would be, on the corner of Hoxton Park road and the Hume Highway, that’s in Tiger territory. Dogs territory starts when you go over the bridge on Newbridge road, down towards Mororebank.

Makes no difference, it’s Bulldogs territory. They know it and so does the NRL.

I don’t give a toss what they think they know. Junior teams in Liverpool fall under the Tigers banner. That’s all that matters.

It has nothing todo with juniors, it’s the fans that count. Liverpool will have crickets at home games.

Like Bankwest...?

Declining attendance at BankWest @ Wests Tigers home games. BankWest is getting close.

I say again , what is your solution ?

At this stage it’s SFS. Fairly neutral area. You won’t be bombarded with Roosters stuff like you are with Parra stuff at BankWest, which happens regardless of who we play at BankWest. The Roosters are no threat to the Wests Tigers in regards to possible merger/takeover, unlike the Bulldogs and Liverpool. SFS has good easy to access central transport with parking at Moore Park when needed. Close to great food and drink. Closer to Headquarters (Wests Ashfield) and COE (Concord). Easy to get to from for out of towners as well via the Airport or Central Station if they want to attend with great accommodation nearby.

A revamped ANZ would have been ideal but that’s not going to happen for the foreseeable future. Can’t see CSS being redeveloped either. So SFS it is.

It is not in our area, we would likely be sharing with 2 other teams and it makes no sense. People complain about a lack of identity but then want to be a team called Wests playing in the Eastern Suburbs.

Because they live in the inner suburbs , and really they want the team close to them for convenience . It has absolutely nothing to do with what’s best for the club .

I live in the Western suburbs and will take an 1.5 hrs to get there by public transport .. 98% of supporters would need to travel .The clubs 2 main facilities are situated in the inner west !

The SFS isn't in the inner west?

It’s not on Bondi Beach either, but it’s easier to get to for most than Liverpool.

For most?

It it closer to Bondi Beach than it is to Concord Oval.

And your point is? Are you saying Liverpool is closer to Concord or Ashfield?

Once again ,Liverpool is in our catchment . Whether you think it’s dogs territory or not . It’s in our catchment

Never said it wasn’t but juniors are irrelevant. There will be crickets attending home games in Liverpool. Liverpool CBD will also be plastered with Bulldogs strip. The stadium itself will have Mortimer and Price stands. It’s Bulldogs territory.

**That’s absolute hyperbole . And garbage . If it’s built in Liverpool it’s our stadium** . Everything you’re saying is based on a perception from 10 years ago .and it’s ? based on ethnicity , and demographics. What you’ll actually find in Liverpool is a whole lot of refugees, new Australians and immigrants ,people not engaged in RL at all . If anything there’s an opportunity to engage a community not affiliated with anyone , other than the fact that 20 minutes up Canterbury Rd , there’s a team who has a high supporter based who have a background from a similar part of the Middle East . That’s about it .
But you believe whatever you want . I’ve had multiple disagreements with you , and one through line always exists . Your arguments are all driven by self interest . Which is ironic because all the problems with Balmain began by people making decisions that served themselves , and the clubs prosperity was either a byproduct , or completely non existent because of this .
It’s no wonder this type of thinking still exists in the Wests tigers .
It’s so frustrating to see .
I honestly don’t care if it’s Liverpool , I just know C town isn’t the answer and neither is the 8th wonder . We need a stadium for ourselves , and halfway between C town and Belmore, whilst still actually being located in our catchment , near public transport , with a T way to Parra , a train station with multiple train lines , and the m5 very close , with the m7 , 10 minutes away , seems like a fairly good solution .

Just like BankWest is our home ground. Yeah right.

**Bankwest was built on the remains of Parra stadium in PARRAMATTA!!!!! **The fact we tried , for the second time mind you, to move there is a joke. Other than money it was never going to work . Liverpool is a brand new stadium , that could be purpose built for us and the dogs . We could have 2 stadiums each . It would be no different to many other leagues around the world , including the AFL , right here , who have teams share stadiums .

Liverpool is Bulldogs through and through. The Bulldogs know it and the NRL knows it and even the media knows it. Play our home games at Liverpool and the Wests Tigers brand will be gone within a decade.

I don’t get why people don’t want to play out of what will be the best Stadium in NSW for watching Rugby League, The Sydney Football Stadium will be better than Suncorp. It will have the best facilities, transport options, food and drink options. Easy for out of towners to get to and stay near by. It ticks all the boxes. But sure let’s play at Liverpool and kill the brand.

Because most people live in the suburbs now . Once again it serves you MIKE . YOU!!! You don’t get it because you want it to be easily accessible for you . What’s the difference between sharing the stadium with the Rabbits , roosters potentially the dragons , or have a purpose built stadium , built for us and 1 other club .

Canterbury bulldogs literally own the land that the stadium would be built on

They would have to sell or fund the building costs themselves

I would say we missed the boat with Campbelltown in hindsight should have happened a couple of years ago when Macathur Bulls were announced who are one game away from A league grand final could have the best suburban stadium in Australia and a the best COE

You are just making stuff up mike.

Am I? Previous experience tells me I’m not.

So you know the names of the stands?

Just like the stands aren’t named at BankWest. Except they are.

I have never seen names on the stands at BankWest

Do you not know they are the Ken Thornett, Mick Cronin, Brett Kenny and Peter Sterling stands.?

Nope

Well that’s what they are named.

Can you show me evidence of that?

I feel dirty going here… lol

https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2019/04/21/eels-legends-honoured-at-bankwest-stadium/

So with banners Parramatta put up? Never seen those at our games there?

With modern technology, I dont understand why they dont use new screen technology (like they do for advertising) so you have a screen that names each stand. That way each tenant can name stands as they like. Bankwest could have Thornett & Sterling one week and Pearce & Barnes the next.

Just improve the access to Leichhardt Oval and play all home games there. Lidcombe Oval and Pratten Park are out, so that just leaves Leichhardt. Get it done.

Think of the fans though. If we move fulltime to Leichhardt, most of our fanbase will be dead in 20 years from Asbestos. Happy to share Liverpool with the Dogs. If we are winning, memberships will explode. If we are losing then it doesnt matter where you're playing, memberships will drop.

They should knock down that warm up athletics track at homebush and put a purpose built 25k rectangular stadium there.

Two parking stations nearby

Short walkup from Birnie Avenue plenty street parking on lidcombe side of Parramatta RD

Close to our Concord Centre of excellence and Ashfield Club.

There's two tracks within close proximity.

FOR ALL THOSE WORRIED THAT IF A NEW STADIUM IS BUILT AT LIVERPOOL IT WILL BE A BULLDOGS GROUND. Stadium talk not all positive

The talk of the Western Grandstand at Panthers Stadium last Friday night was the likely knock down and re-build of the venue.

Many are upset that the west will likely become corporate seating entirely, much like has happened at Bankwest Stadium.

There’s a real concern that with the State Government in charge of the project and not Panthers or Penrith Council, that fans won’t be heavily consulted during the process.

After the stadium is complete, it will almost certainly fall into the control of Venues NSW. What that means for its Penrith heart and soul is a question that will be answered in time.

Expect official announcements about the stadium in the coming months – while it’s almost certain to happen, no official steps have been taken yet towards the likely knock down at the end of 2022.

It would almost be the same for Liverpool Stadium with Venues NSW being in charge A letting the ground to the NRL

WT'S and Bulldogs will more than likely base themselves in Concord and Belmore.

I would say at a guess the WTs and particularly JP want ANZ as our fulltime home base, not sure but a lot points in that direction...
especially if we get paid big dollars to play there...

Is that a press release from the NSW Labor government?
