One that was there for the taking...

With a lot of South's stars out, this could have been our chance to get them. But we thought we better make it easy for them..
I won't go into the sin binning - a trademark of ours these days. As is leaking almost 30 points a game. This isn't going to be fixed anytime soon.
But we did hand a lot of the ball over to Souths through mistakes that can't sit with the coach.

We all got excited about the exuberance of youth, but perhaps underestimating that with it comes lack of experience. Equally visible in the coaching as is on the park.

In any case, on the performance so far this year, hard to disagree we belong where we are.
NZ next week - not looking forward to that.

A few of the kids did make bad mistakes but the reason we lost is because our "experienced" players were disgraceful, starting with a couple of internationals who play for Tier 1 nations

True, I think Bateman in particular had one of his worst games. Only excuse I can think of is that it is brought on him (and others) by the anxiety of losing.

Faatape had a really bad game he’s a cup player. Young Laulili has a bad game but we have to persist with the kid he needs experience. I can cop the loss we gave them the game knock on by Luke was a back breaker.

I can live with the losses as long as the kids are the ones playing and having a white hot crack they'll learn. It will take some time but today's game was light years better than last week's, as long as I can see green shoots I'll be happy. At some point though that won't be enough and the younger guys will need to become more consistent.

Was it that much better?
Last week we struggled to score however we played the 5th best defensive team and the 2nd best attacking team. If they put it together, they flog us, which is what happened.
This week we played the 5th worst attacking side who are also the 3rd worst defensive side and they ran 7 tries through us in yet another 40 point drubbing.

Tucker when you put it like that. It's not really good reading.

No games are there for the taking when your defence is as piss weak as ours.
Hmm I actually thought the defence was okay considering the possession flow and penalty count. They've scored 7 tries but 2 were freebies from dropped ball, there was a dive over late against 12 when they were gassed and a ricochet kick. I thought the goal line defence wasn't too bad all things considered.
