Options for the 6 jersey in the future

Hed want to improve an awful lot on his 9s performance.
Offered nothing in attack ,& defended like Benji.
Got a feeling that having "fixed"the forwards firepower, the halves will be the major issue this year & cant expect Brooks to pick up the slack.
No 6 choices are Slow Sirro, even slower Anasta ,& Austin who showcased why he hasnt made it into 1sts anywhere,& Moses who is way too small at this stage..
Got a feeling Fulton will end up in 6 sooner or later, particularly if we leak points early,& thats not a step forward.

Josh Hoffman has again asked Brisbane for a release.
Would he be a decent option at 6 for us this year?

I'm a fan of Austin. Thought he looked decent in attack in the 9s but gee his defence in the Newcastle game was atrocious. Don't think I saw him not miss a tackle.

Its funny, in the penrith trial he was awesome in defence.

I don't think the 9s are a true reflection of defence styles or patterns.

It's completely different to what you train for all season.

Granted, but shirt grabbing is not on. It was standard one on one defence, like normal rules, not any sliding movement etc which would be different.

Hoping he comes good for the NRL season. I'm a big fan of Austin and want to see him shine

Tedesco would be the best six in our team if he wasn't an even better fullback…

1\. Simona
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Lawrence
4\. Richards
5\. Koroibete
6\. Tedesco
7\. Brooks

Not a bad lineup, but Tedesco is just such a good fullback I wouldn't want to see him moved.

Mitchell Moses will definitely be our best option at 5/8 eat some stage this year depending on how we are travelling. From what I saw at the Nines tournament Austin is too slow & missed nearly every tackle he attempted. Unfortunately not first grade material.

I can remember people saying the same thing about some bloke called Lockyer

Has Teddy got an effective enough long kicking game to play 6 though Mac ??

Lockyer was always a 6, but was so talented, Wayne found a spot for him at 1 to keep his 3rd child at 5/8…

Teddy is a talented Fullback with great ball playing skills... Big year coming up for this kid if Brooks can get his pigs downfield!

Unfortunately Rugby League is a two dimensional game - attack and defence. While he may have some attacking flair, he still gets steamrolled in defence (even in the 20s).

people writing off austin based on his lack of defense seem to forget how great marshall defended
he is a half. his main role is to create attack, second role to defend. if we are relying on a half to make a one on one tackle all the time then serious questions have to be asked about the rest of the squad. yes he should be able to tackle, no he shouldnt be shirt grabbing but we honestly cant expect him to tackle big guys one on one all the time. i would rather have the best attacking half with no defense than a middle of the road attacking and defending half. if he can hold up or slow down the opposition enough for a big boy to finish the tackle then his job is done IMO. and when it comes down to austin or anasta this year its austin for mine. worry about 2015 when it comes around, give austin 3 months to see if its going to work out before worrying about signing a big name

I hope Austin comes good. Moses is still a bit young I reckon and I can't bear to think that Anasta will be there long term!

The long term option seems to be Moses, but he doesnt seem like the sort of bloke that will play NRL at a really young age due to his frame, however given a normal development he will go on to be a good player.

The kid from Keebra might give him a run as well, he is a very good player as well..

Short term Anasta and AUstin will do the job.

I know Austin was less than pleased with his efforts at the nines I think you will see a much more improved performance from him this week.
