Origin selection discussion thread

The selectors have no faith in our players. They chop and change the team constantly and dont let the team develop. Queensland, however keep most of the same players regardless of how they play. Along with pulling every trick in the book to win, that's why Queensland have been successful and we haven't.

i want farah but i can see the team shaping out like this
lawrence proved he can defend against a man mountain in idris...should be able to get it done on inglis hopefuly. Not sure on Gallos chances but if he doesnt start i dont see him making a bench spot

this has been a problem for the blues, the selectors start panicking and not thinking of the future, they'll pick Noddy, when they should probably go for someone a tad younger.

I would have gone for Pearce, but who knows if he'll be right to play.

To be honest I don't think Lawrence is going to be named. He needs a blinder on the weekend. His defensive effort in City v Country has gone unnoticed.

agree, he slammed idris..if only he didnt offload..would of been hit of the season.

1\. Hayne
2\. B.Morris
3\. J.Morris/Lyon
4\. Tahu
5\. Burt or Jennings/Lyon if they can play wing

6\. Carney
7\. Pearce (or kimmorley if not ready)

8\. Weyman
9\. Ennis (sorry farah ur out of form, plus tigers need u anyway :stuck_out_tongue🙂
10\. Snowden
11\. Watmough
12\. Lewis
13\. Gallen

14\. Gidley
15\. T. Mannah
16\. Mason
17\. Galloway

Really wanna see tahu/t.mannah and mason get a crack (there are others but ill leave it at that!)

Even though I was born Maroon I reckon NSW can field a top team to take us on this year.

My picks would be:

1\. Dugan
2\. Hayne
3\. Cooper
4\. Jennings
5\. Morris
6\. Soward
7\. Kimmorley
8\. Weyman
9\. Ennis (I'd want Farah but I know he won't be picked.)
10\. Galloway
11\. Watmough
12\. Creagh
13\. Gallen

14\. Lewis (I'd love Heighno in there, but you have to pick Lewis on his ability to play in the centres, wing, 5/8 and second row)
15\. Learoyd-Lahrs
16\. Douglas
17\. Tolman

Gidley cost them dearly last year. He's never stepped up at origin level and I don't think he should be picked every again. Mason has a lot to prove but needs to be consistent before being considered again. Lyon can go jump because he hasn't always had the desire. You can't nominate when you want to play or not, as far as I'm concerned, he's made his bed and he should lie in it. Perry and Kite are myths and G. Stewart is out of form.

NSW are really missing a tried and tested gun fullback like Snake Stewart…

I actually think its the logical choice ay. Everytime he's played hooker its been at rep level and he's done a great job. He's widely regarded as the fittest in the NRL and we all know how committed he plays. I think he's a perfect hooker for origin when u consider Ennis is a fraud and Robbie doesnt seem to do things quick enough at this level. He could also keep the captaincy this way.

Gidley shouldnt be at fullback or in the haves, but he has to be in the 17\. He didnt cost NSW at all, he played with more commitment than anyone last year.

This is where the NSW selectors lose it. They pick players out of position because they think they have to pick them in the squad somewhere. For me, Gidley is at fullback or not in the side at all. He just doesn't offer enough off the bench, and he isn't a halfback/5-8.

1\. J. Morris

3\. Lyon (GK)

12\. M. Minichiello

14\. Mason
15\. Gidley

17\. Leahroyd-Lars

I'd go with close to a team like this for Origin I.

Now I just cant get my head around how Ennis is spoken in the same breath as Robbie Farah let alone be considered for the hooking spot in SOO going by these stats. I refuse to buy the garbage that Ennis is more suited for origin than Farah. How is he more suited? What is the criteria you have to meet to be "more suited." I also refuse to buy the garbage that Ennis needs to play because of the Bulldogs connection with Kimmorly. Now Kimmorly's selection is another debate but why are Smith, Thurston and Lockyer successful playing together when they play for 3 seperate clubs???? On top of all that, you can add club and city captain to Robbie's resume. If Ennis is selected for NSW then that will indicate to me that it's not because he is a better player than Robbie which it's clear that Ennis is not, it's because of backroom politics in the NSWRL and the NSWRL selectors.
