Our fans deserve better: Taylor

Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor has blamed his side's inability to recover from last weekend's demoralising golden point loss to the Storm for Saturday night's crushing 60-6 defeat in Canberra.

The Tigers were outplayed in all facets of the game by a Raiders side hell-bent on bouncing back from back-to-back uncharacteristically poor performances.

"It wasn't good enough from us tonight. It was a game that we were completely outplayed physically and it starts and ends there," Taylor said after the game. "Mentally we couldn't pick ourselves up after last week's golden point game. It's not good enough from us. Our fans deserve better. The opposition are a big, strong team. They were up for it on the back of some big losses and we couldn't go with them.

"It's a really poor showing from us. We're better than that and we know we're better than that and the only thing we can do now is respond."

Taylor said his side couldn't dwell on Saturday night's loss with a clash against the Rabbitohs looming next Thursday. "We play again in five days against Souths. They're in the same boat as us. It's bloody tough," he said. "We'll have a team out there and we'll be ready to represent the Wests Tigers' jersey in the fashion it deserves to be represented because it wasn't done in the fashion it should be tonight."

The Tigers were well and truly in the game midway through the first half when trailing 12-6 after 25 minutes, but a try to Jordan Rapana on the strike of half-time, followed by three more Raiders tries in the 12 minutes after the break effectively ended the contest. Chris Lawrence – who scored the Tigers' only four pointer – said ill-discipline with and without the ball ultimately cost his side any chance of victory.

The 2005 premiers missed 41 tackles and conceded nine penalties to gift their opponents an extra 16 sets of six on the night, gifting the Green Machine the opportunities necessary to post their highest ever score against the Tigers. "We just shot ourselves in the foot with poor execution when we had the ball. We let them back in the game and they obviously finished the half off well," Lawrence said. "They're the type of side… where if you give them too much opportunity then they're just going to continue to steamroll you. "We just couldn't stop that momentum in the second half. They just had too much ball, and the more they had, the more they kept rolling us."

At least he is honest enough to tell us that its not good enough, let's see what the team plays like on Thursday night and see if they have the guts and ability to respond in a winning way….

I won't hang by my left one waiting though....... :astonished:

I remember a song back in the 80s called" brokenhearted "…....that's how I feel supporting this team and club......

There should be a song for this team called" pea hearted".....most appropriate I would presume....

I watched that presser last night and was too pe'd off to write anything as I would have been insta-banned i was fuming, that presser just shows his attitude to what is happening within the club, at no point was he fired up, pe'd off, livid, he just sat there like a little kid and let the cliches fly. At no point did he admit his errors, no accountability from him! how can we expect accountability from the players. He just spewed out, the players couldnt get up for the game, mentally shot, no motivation. Hey JT you imbecile, what is your job again??

No less than a public apology from all 17 players is acceptable..I drove down the Hume and back for 8 hours to watch that pathetic display by these weak hearted players… They are the ones who missed the tackles that led to the tries... They must publicaly apologies to us suffering fans.if the club is fair dinkum each player should get up on WT TV and say sorry... full stop

I would be happy with an appology from 13 players

Tedesco Nofa Naiqama Lawrence

Hold your heads high, the rest of you plodders should be in state cup.

Agree with both posts but it is a team sport so all 17 should apologize. Teddy Nofa Naiqama Lawrence could apologize for the teams performance simply because they care the rest could apologize for their own poor performances to the fans sponsors and than to the 4 above mentioned for not having the heart to aim up and play with their passion

But isn't that part of the coaches job to motivate the team ? Sure it also has to come from within but the desire was not there. And at half time the coach was looking at the floor in front of all the players, it would appear his desire was not there and it showed - not acceptable.

To me it's all words :unamused:

We have had numerous articles from Sirro , Ava , Lawrence, Naiqama etc…..

They all tell us everything we are doing wrong during games and that we are not far away from being a formidable side :blah :blah :blah .

6 loses in a row doesn't translate to anything that we are on the improve and the buck stops with JT if you like it or not .
He doesn't command Respect , tried to play Mr tough guy and got smoked....didn't follow through with things he wanted to implement especially with the Farah thing
( thought he had the backing of the Club ) , the tune quickly changed when Pascoe arrived as he realized the media Circus and how inept our Club was.

If we are serious? As an Organisation a clean out has to occur from Coaching staff to players....so many are not up to 1st Grade standard or a simply past there use by date .

Players that have to get the chop IMO : Milone , Rankin , Lovett , Sironen , Farah , Halatau , Brooks , Moses .
Get in the Market and buy the players , i've had enough of all this time wasting investing in juniors and holding on to all this POTENTIAL crap they are clearly not up to it .

I'm so glad i didn't have to witness the game it would be like playing the Pokies....you know eventually they are going to beat you .

I felt for all the WT supporters that attended the game. Tigerap my hat goes off to you. Driving all that way and then having to sit and watch the pathetic display they dished out through the 80 min. would've been so frustrating and embarrassing,
It was bad enough watching it in the comfort and warmth of our home with family and friends, instead of freezing our buts off and having thousands of happily screaming Raiders fans around us.
I agree that there must be a public apology. I also expect them to fire up next week and put 60 on the Rabbitohs….( Wishful thinking)

Its not all bad.
Aleast the magpies side of the jv are reliving the glory days of getting flogged each week.
I think JT picks Rankin because he sees himself in him.
A pasty faced weed with some ability. Pffft.

I kid you not , if i was a Season Ticket Holder and travelled to Canberra last night i would be sending my purchased ticket and ask for a refund…..i know it's a Raiders home game but that scoreline should not be tolerated especially after going all the way down there.

Even if it is rejected by the Club which it would be......at least word will get back to Management about the lengths that some fans have gone to .

JT got the job by talking an inexperienced board into it. It certainly wasn't on his resume. He made a lot of promises and quite simply I don't think his up to it.

He spun his way into the job but his been badly exposed.

Yep. I think he really went for the job and the board bought his spin.

I'm still fuming the next day…I've had 3 memberships for 7 years now, I think the fans are entitled to better than the crap we were dished up last night....a throw away line in a press conference just isn't good enough...Pascoe has given us his email address and I intend using it...If they (Pascoe and O'Neill) really care for the fans more than lips service is required.....
