Our halves this week

@Eddie said:
I rest my case. The halves were totally awful, kicking game pathetic, organising pathetic, no passing game. It was laughable to be honest.

Pick a halfback at halfback please. How hard is it. Miller will do for now.

And this is why I question Potter. Not going into the game with a recognised half was a recipe for disaster especially with a rookie 6 not known as an organiser.

Well….Bunji and Farah do most of the kicking.

I expect you will see some tonight.

He did do a few belters in the city country game that were large and found space.

Well, we did see some tonight. That bomb that went 20 metres backwards was quite special.

Tonight again proved that Moltzen is not a halfback and does not possess a kicking game that is adequate for first grade. He is a ball running five eighth, not a halfback.

Did nothing before his injury.

Why is this funny, Moltzen doesn't have any attributes of a halfback. He is a ball runner, that's it. No kicking game, no creativity, limited passing game etc.

So yes, he's a manufactured halfback.

We will struggle tomorrow night because Farah is the only player on the field with a creative bone in his body. Sironen and Moltzen don't have a kicking game.

I think you might have this wrong. I sort of agree with you in that he is primarily a ball runner and he isn't really creative but he can pass the ball, he does have a good long boot on him and he can make a bust in the halves.

I think the halves are where he is best suited.

I don't think I have this wrong. I think tonight proved that.

Miller won't set the world on fire but he will provide us with some direction, which we are sorely lacking. Plus he and sironen have played a number of games together.

That's how I see it. Let him have a crack without Marshall and see how he goes.

Very hard to throw mud at anyone with our injury toll and the disruption it has had on our attack and defense.

The team tonight had next to no chance of putting on a set play or even making a line break with all the tinkering of the backline due injuries. In reality all they could hope for is to defend stoutly and put a few
bombs and thats what they did.

Although Potter has to bite the bullet next week and get Miller back in the 7 roll or punt big time on Brooks and really to promote a young kid into a team that is on struggle street would not be a smart move

Very sensible post here. A makeshift half pairing lost a centre in its week long build-up which hurt. I think we had to play more direct and look for second phase play.

Our whole side this week is going to be a a lot of tough decisions ,let alone the halves

Farah spent a bit of the time at first or second reciever last night ,whether it is right or wrong that thought will go through Potter's head with Luani / Iosefa coming in

It is obvious that Potter is also a fan of Iosefa as well so that could happen as well

Fulton was at 6 when everything went pear shaped last night

Thompson in the centres perhaps , but Barba will make minced meat out of us out wide if we start sticking back rowers out wide

Simona and Meaney have had some experience at the top grade and could possibly slot into the centres

Depending on Koroibete's fitness ,Reddy comes into the centres possibly

Sirro was very quiet and was more effective when Liam started playing 5/8\. I think he realises he is a back rower now, albeit a smallish one (but will get bigger obviously). Moltzen was…...well...Moltzen. Ineffective, inept, useless, hapless.... a figment of someone's imagination of a decent footballer. Sorry he got injured, the NSW Cup side could have done with him.

I'm not saying your wrong but he has looked more consistent in the halves than at fullback but last night showed he probably isn't up to it in the halves especially when whoever else is in the halves isn't a dominant player. He looked poor out there despite the injury. Sironen didn't look good either.

Miller has been ordinary - he definitely has been no better than Sironen or Moltzen were last night. We desperately need Benji out there with someone else who can play - maybe we just have to give Brooks a go. Maybe we play Sironen there because he is big and might bust the line if he starts running it more. Maybe we should play Fulton there. Fulton will make tackles all game and can hit a gap. He definitely though isn't a long term option.

Our halves are a mess and so are our outside backs. I think we have a huge number of quality forwards coming through but as for the backs they just haven't looked as good. Tedesco is looking average not good, Koro looks good but defensively he has been poor, the young halves Miller and Sirro haven't looked anything other than average.

Miller may have been ordinary so far but he is a natural 7 with a kicking game. This is what we need.

I don't think Brooks should be rushed.

Stop trying so hard.

Once again, stick to the 'x2' posts

I don't think Brooks should be rushed but Miller simply hasn't looked up to it. I think Miller should dominate State cup prior to getting a call up. He has had his chances and I think he needs to prove himself in the lower grades.

Just rememeber who left us in this mess

I'm not going to completely blame Sheens. For instance Galloway and Benji not on the park leaves us without 2 of best players. Sheens decision to recruit Blair and allow Fifita and Gibbs to leave though was about as poor as it gets.

I definitely don't blame Potter for that game.

Lame attack….even by your pathetic standards.
