Our injuries

Just reading and listening over the past 48 hours, I can't seem to understand how Souths got all this sympathy from their performance because of their injuries. To me, it reads as if we're fully fit at the moment, and I think this is a theme. If Benji and Robbie are playing, then any other injuries we have are irrelevant.

Well whilst we performed poorly in the first half on Sat night, I think it can't be ignored that we were without our three best defenders in Ellis, Gibbs and Payten, as well as our most dangerous outside backs in Lawrence and Tuqiri…..thoughts??

i think our defense felt the missing players - Ellis, Payten and in partuclar Gibbs offer massive starch to our defense, and we would not have been cut up around the ruck like we were in the first half. Many of those breaks down the middle would have been shutdown by a Bryce gibbs hit, or a great payten defensive read.

Spot on.

Can't believe some here want to offload Gibbs and force Payten into retirement.

Gibbs was the single biggest missed player with the way we were cut apart through the middle.

Would really like Ellis back sometime soon as well, the raging Englishman has been sighted too few and far between this year for my liking :frowning:

I agree. I thought about that at the weekend as well. We are well down on full strength, particularly ruck defence as mentioned and our left side attack with CL and LT.

The rest need to step up or get out of FG. No excess - Souths aren't that good.

That's the thing that hurts, Spartan. It's not like we were playing St George or Melbourne. We were playing a team with a stack of reserve graders who we put 30 on a few weeks prior.

Some of the mistakes made by our guys were unforgivable - Not finding touch from the penalty kick. Allowing one Souths drop out to find touch and not regaining another… the list goes on. I have three sons who play in the 7s, 10s and 13s. These are mistakes we don't expect their teams to make, let alone a professional first grade squad.
