I watched her interview this morning and I must say I was so happy such a humble person got this honour… To come out and say/think you are not worthy, and simply cant believe she has recieved this honour, simply shows how worthy she is....

There's no question over Jackson's selection, as far as I'm concerned - she totally deserves it. She's been a great ambassador for Australia for many years now.
 
I really hope that there was nothing political behind Lauren getting the nod but what a great choice, I think she came from 'left field' and it would really have been a blunder if she was overlooked regardless of her gender.
 
Lauren deserves it, she is an absolute superstar in women's basketball and has medalled for Australia before. I highly doubt they'd change their opinion after what Natalie Cook said, unless they were taking the honour away from her. She impressed me more when she was speaking about getting the nod. Many other athletes (both on the team and in non-olympic sports) could learn a lot from her.

No question at all! Lauren was told she would be the flag bearer on Monday, and had to keep it quiet till the official announcement. Also, read on the WT website that Lauren is a WT member!

She's got some size about her and would have some ball skills. A few more injuries and we may need to give her a run. She would still offer more than Joel Reddy.
 
Has the club ever promoted this fact until now?

Im not up with every single thing they do in this regard, but I remember bazza, Tiger Woods, the wiggles bloke daniel geale…etc
