I hope that Hartigan and Madge get to see the fruits of their labor in the next couple of seasons, its then the young will have experience and developed into NRL quality players…if not it hasnt cost us a huge hit that takes us back many years again to have money to spend on a couple of elite players when they come available and we need them…
To be realistic, and many will disagree with me but trying to sort out a club to mould an NRL competative team takes time, some pain, losses through injury and not having depth to replace the top players in our squad…we can buy players and spend huge amounts just to say we have bought great players, but that has been a disaster many times at this club…change needed to happen, its slowly getting there ,however the on field losses are showing us just how inexperienced, lack of NRL quality players we have at the moment, but they will get better,in my opinion ““Patience is a virtue””.i will wait a bit longer to see how these blokes perform over the 2022 season before sacking the coach,CEO,players and finally the club…just my opinion…

I basically agree. The concern I have is that Madge is not getting the players to play good footy. Is he the right coach to get the most out of the talent that we have ?

Earl I dont want you to think that Iam a huge Madge fan, however I can see that the players like Tom Mich,AD,Laurie,Blore,AJ (in centres) Stef are all developing well under Madge....its just that they are not experienced enough to be quality NRL players consistently....it takes time...even Madge said in his presser about the team last night...""they played to the gameplan in the first half...and went away from it in the second..""
thats immaturity and lack of on field leadership right there...just my opinion and fully respect yours mate...

I can't get over the short drop outs. That is a coaching issue. I get the players probably made that call but they should be given guidelines about that.

Same as Liddle playing 80 minutes consistently when he is clearly not capable.

Agree TT. We need to ensure our roster includes smart players as much as good players... footy nous is becoming harder to find and we have to be prepared to pay for it. That's the only way our young players will reach potential, by having footy smarts alongside them on the field.

Yes I agree, but with the players that are out,who does Madge put in there that is capable of providing the quality to put the team on the front foot...I didnt see the game but saw highlights...Mbye to centre then fullback,it was a desperate need to fill a void at a time when the depth is inadequate ,..

I think this roster though average indeed, would make 8 under Ivan Cleary. Sorry don't hate me!

This is not a bad roster .. a decent coach this team playing finals this year ! The coach is the issue a failure any way you look at it ..

BS … second worst roster in the comp
Bunch of pea hearts and dopes

It's a bottom 3 roster everyday of the week.

Agree Barra,I will also say and most will bag me,but Mbye was known as a halves player earlier in his career,he has been shoved from pillar to post in many positions while with us and has done a reasonable job while not specifically known as a centre, fullback, hooker ,but when in the halves with Brooks the backline had more ball and Brooks game seemed to be much better..people bag Mbye because of Ivans exorbadent salary offered to him,but as far as nous goes he is pretty good in his favoured position, thats why he was an origin 14 because of versatility....

It's pretty hard to do any better when it comes to picking the team. At the same time we should have won that game. I reckon we had the better team on the park.

Let’s be honest and this is why it’s so hard to be passionate.
The team we put out is full of mostly juniors or players blooded this year.
Madge said as much in the presso having a few senior players out.

The problem with this is and we need to understand how rosters are structured in this comp. our young guys we are blooding are no better then the young guys the roosters or the Storm have blooded this year.

The differnce however lies in the Senior players in both sides.

Roosters have a Stefano in Daniel Suluka Fifita. But they also have a Jared Warea Hargreaves an Issac Liu and a SST.

Roosters or Storm have a Shaun Blore in Egan Butcher and Trent Ioiero. But they also have a Angus Crichton and Felise Kaufusi.

I agree, we really need to raise our standards in terms of players. We're so quick to want to sack all the staff but everyone seems fixated on hanging onto mediocre players.

People act like Blore is God's gift but he wouldn't make the bench for half the teams in the NRL. Liddle would start on 2-3 teams. Same for Talau, Maumalo and others.

Even our good players really aren't that amazing. Doueihi, Laurie etc probably aren't in the top 8 at their position.

It's August 1st.
Any roster additions?

They could extend it out to August 1st next year and there still probably wouldn’t be any additions.

Sheens is in the foetal position after reading who is available

Our roster break down is as follows.

Of our squad only the following have over 150 games experience and 4 of them reached that mark this year.
Brooks
Mbye
Nofo
Jet
Of the other 3, 2 have played less than 5 games this year.
BJ
Packer
The only other player with 150 plus is our captain Tamou.

It looks like Kia Cooper has been added as position 30 not sure if anyone can confirm that but he is listed in our player profiles.

In addition to the above 18 of our 30 have played less than 50 games.
Mikalee and Liddle just reached that mark this year.
So at start of the year technically 2/3s of our squad had played less than 50 games.

Our roster is full of players without ambition, players happy to be living the lifestyles they do.

None better example than MCK, who posts his rare first grade appearances even when we are slapped.
