Our season just ended

Our season ended after about rd 7

Tbh I had doubts after round 1\. At the time the sharks were…well the sharks and they took us to the line at tiger town. I remember feeling very hollow with that win. Haven't felt much better about any wins this season tbh.

Sheens will put this years failure down to injuries…and there is no denying that injuries were not kind to us...but name a team that doesn't struggle with injuries...and besides this was the year we had the greatest depth....remember?...our failure this year has to go down to poor form by some of our top buys and poor form by our gun players....and playing without a recognised halfback...since 2006 we had Lui pay decent for 1.5 years and oustide this the team had been rudderless at half.....a MAJOR reason why the team had failed to fire..

Our season was derailed first game. All that off season came undone when teddy went down. Injuries were cruel to us. We only had our best 17 for some 20 mins all season. But I didn't see an amputated spirit tonight. What's the other 15 teams excuses for not winning the comp?

I don't want to hear injuries as a excuse. Look at the toll manly has had to deal with plus a new coach. It's same old reasons for the same old problems. The biggest issue for me is we are not even in a " rebuilding" stage yet. We have to play with the aging players/coach/ideas for a few more seasons yet at which point we will start rebuilding from the ground up. Whatever that means.

Let's get realistic people. How many games has Ellis play this year. I wish I could blame Sheens, I know how you feel but once again the injury gods have struck.

After round 26, we will be sitting equal 8th, but points differential will push us to 9th.

Then we will look back and realise our season ended when Parra scored 30 points in 10 mins…...

The Parra game is when I seriously started to doubt this team would make the 8\. It was such an embarrassing cavein…they just gave up. The loss against Souths was also a huge red flag.

I was looking forward to the game this Sunday as it will be the first one I have got to live in about 7 weeks. At the moment considering how much that game would have taken out of us both physically and mentally, coupled with more injuries....this score could be anything.

Even if we do make the semis , we won't make week 2

Then we will have an interesting meeting between Sheens and Humphrey's

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it the team with least injuries wins the comp. Forget about it. Let it go - it feels soothing.

With this loss tonight and all the injuries I can't see us recovering from this.
I think needs Benji needs a break so he can concentrate on his role with the footy show. He doesn't see to offer anything in attack. Our backs need some speed.
Bite the bullet sheens and blood some new players for the rest of the year with a look to the future

I guess you're being sarcastic when you say he should concentrate on the footy show…lol It's only beacuse he's supposed to be a footy player that he gets a gig there. Resting him doesn't make any sense at all. A stint tin NSW Cup may well sort him out.

Shattered… We are still in a good position on the ladder, but sometimes you just realise you have missed your bus even while you keep running down the street!

Great analogy. Kinda sums up the season.

We can still make it but if any game comes back to haunt us this game will. Heaps of injuries and we had our chances to win which we didn't take.

Its a difficult pill to swallow, but we don't have the personnel. I think that's been proven habitually over the course of the season. At some point we have neglected to notice how the game has changed in terms of it's major objective i.e. Occupying the better field position. Apart from Woods we have 'popgun' forwards who run with the body shape of meerkats and rarely apply pressure to the organisation of opposing defences. Keith Galloway is now an eight or nine season veteran and remains the most frustrating of the forwards, through his inability to truly utilize his size and bulk by dominating opposition packs. Ellis, Blair and Fulton are brave and have high work rates, but they lack size.

The backline speaks for itself. The best example of a complete breakdown in the recruiting process was the acquisition of Reddy while allowing Mitch Brown to leave. The greatest attacking player of his generation has now been reduced to a ball shuffler, with a deteriorating kicking role. Journeymen abound besides.

I don't know about Wests, but recruitment and expenditure were never Balmain's strong suits, I just wonder whether the diseased processes in these areas have become generational.

Will sneak into the eight, but the reality is we just do not have the personnel to cause much fuss. The game has matured, we have not unfortunately

Well summed up Citizen Tiger totally agree we need to look at personnel and move forward with the ever changing game

The injury god has kicked us hard again but most clubs have the same problems. Our season has ended because we did not get enough points in the bank early to cover us at the back end of the season when injuries do kick in. You can only fly home on a wet sail if you have a healthy roster. Really 2012 has been a disaster from day one and lets hope when the reviews are done they dont try and hide behind injuries and bad luck stories
