Pack size

How big is BMM? He is one lump of a lad.
Throw in Galloway, Fifita, Woods, Ellis and we have some good size in the forwards.

How would our pack rank for largest to smallest?

Fifita
BMM
Keef
Gibbs
etc
etc
??
Fulton
Farah

I suspect the heaviest to lightest in the forwards would go something like this:

Fifita
Murdoch-Masila
Galloway
Woods
Payten
Ellis
Gibbs
Dwyer
Heighington
Fulton
Farah

The pack has a good blend of size, skill and mobility about it which is the main thing.

Great for the forwards to get the momentum going and give Benji, Lui and Farah some room to move.

Woods particularly impressive.

I think BMM would be heavier than Fifita given Fifita lost alot of weight in the off season. BMM is massive.

Fifita is 8cm taller than him, but you're right, Murdoch is one broad shouldered unit though.

Very true.

It only takes a couple of hard runners to properly instill that ethos into a pack, but who is going to supply that inspiration? Blair?!
At the moment it's only there when the pack is going well, it needs to be there when we are on the back foot, coming out of our end etc.

Well if our kicking game can be consistantly as good as it was on Sunday it will put less pressure on our forwards to dig us deep out of our own territory as we will have better field position to start our sets of six from .

I think aaron woods could safely become that person. He seems to remind me of a young webcke.

That's true HT.

If we could see that kicking game every week it would be different but it seems that the pack already looks for someone/something else to help them out of trouble. In the past they have looked for our attack to turn things around for the team, but it is a dangerous mindset because that can't happen every set and then you get bashed in your own end with backs making up the numbers (which would be OK if they all ran like Utai but they don't) and standing start hit-ups. We've all seen that happen too often.

MM you could be right, Woods looks the goods, but we need an aggressive big boy to back him up, fingers crossed…

He's the one we really have to keep. He will be one of the best (50centsalitre type player) and is already very very good.

Dwyer i reckon has put on 5kg (of muscle) since those weights were calculated He would have to be 105 kg easy now .

Those weights were taken during the pre-season. A lot of them have fluctuated as in Fifita's case, he is 109kg, not 114kg.

We need these big boys to use their God given brains. Brains over brawn any day. We need smart footballers.
