I just checked the usage statistics of this site and found that there has been a sudden spike in the number of users from the panthers forum.

***waves to panthers fans***

anyway, have a read of what they are saying about this game:

Gee, let's hope their players are as cocky as their fans.

To be honest they have reason to be. They always step up against us and we will still have a key forward or two out as well.

We need to muscle up!

haha its funny how they are like the exact same as us, but just go for another team

What about this guy:

Just quietly I'm forseeing the Tigers going into injury crisis after this weekend…a few of there guys I think will get hurt

WTF?

Same bloke:

Just to give you an idea here guys of our superiority in the forwards
>
Gibbs v Grant - Bryce Gibbs isn't even big enough to be a prop and give zero go forward
Galloway v Petero - Galloway is solid while Petero is the bench mark - you may as well compare holden to ferrari
Fulton v Pritchard - Fulton is a back with a bit more size..
Ellis v Waterhouse - on par…they are almost like clones...
Heighinton v Lewis - Heighno is very solid and bigger...but please...Lewis still has the wood
>
the bench..
Moors v Smith - same size but Smithy all over him in ball running, skill, fitness and defense..
Fifita v Bell - Fifita is a pretty mobil forward..but Bell is bigger
Flanagan v Paulo - Paulo is bigger and stronger albeit probably less skillful with ball catching
Daniella v Mckendry - why would you bother having a winger on the bench?
>
I predict as usual our boys completely dominating them up the middle..they'll only score off line breaks in there own half or on the back of penalties

"Sheens has a habit of picking little blokes on the bench, who normally end up shut out of the game because of our forward dominance. Let's hope he does it again."

From a Panther fan…..had to smile at this one!

Yeah, just had a look through their forum. Very confident of course, but you know what, they deserve being favorites at home and in the form they are in. Let's be honest, the Panthers pack have had the wood on the Tigers for some time now and for the Tigers to win, they've got to control the ball and win the ruck. This, along with a high completion rate has been the biggest hurdle for the Tigers in recent times.

It will be great if the Tigers can get up this week, but I'm not expecting it on current form to be honest.

This is the first week that our fans, on my average, have suggested we will lose. I agree. But are we losing faith? Who will we have next week that we dont have now and do they really make a difference? I hate the tought that with the loss of Moltzen our season is sliding. IThe negativity (or reality) willl make a win all the more sweeter.

WTF alright! 😱pen_mouth:
I thought I had the crystal ball not this monkey out at Penrith. :astonished:
After visiting the McDonalds Penrith last Sunday night….he got home, took the tic tac, waited a while, then started typing!

Love the comment on their board about pulling 17,000 fans.

Yeah, you'll pull at least 10,000 Tigers there, I live in Penriff, and we always outnumber them at their own ground.

It's not a case of losing faith, I always like to think the Tigers are a chance of winning but Penrith are clearly a stronger team in the forwards and that is something the Tigers traditionally struggle with. I know a week can be a long time in league, and I certainly think the Tigers will be a more energetic and disciplined side than last week, if they are not then I will be disappointed, but on current form it's hard to go past the Panthers at home.

The Tigers gameplan is going to have to come down to:

1\. Compress defence and get off the line quickly. The Tigers defence has been quite decent of late, despite running out of petrol late against the Bulldogs, the Tigers defended extremely well considering the lack of possession they had. If they can get off their line quickly and hold the Penrith then they may be able to nullify Walsh and Burns.

2\. They have to complete their sets and get to their kick. At the moment the Panthers kicking game is far superior so Robbie, Benji and Lazarus have to get to their kick and turn the Panthers pack around.

3\. If the Tigers get their completions up, I'm sure Benji and Robbie will both be more dangerous in attack. They have to try and catch the Panthers out around the ruck to start with though, they have to lay some sort of platform up the middle if they are going to win this one.

Doing all this well will be a big ask though IMO.

You obviously are YotT…...One thread it's Panfers 12.5 + another it's 20+....now the victory will be sweeter.... 😕

Gibbs, Farah, GALLOWAY, Fulton, Ellis, Heighington will have something to say about it....

Control the ball and Wests Tigers are every chance...

I hope Penriff bring their best.....As I hope we do....It wll be a cracker.....

These are the same people who rate Brad Tighe and Adrian Purtell as the most dangerous pairing in the comp… Fact is the reason we've got a dismal record against the Panthers is for some reason we pick these games to have some of our all time worst performances. Monday night at Campbo, the debacle at Leichhardt last year... it's not like Penrith were too good, we have just played terrible against them.

At least the Panthers fans will be thanking us a little whether we win or lose.

Lets face it we always boost the home ground average of their fair weather fan base. Their support of their team is utterly pathetic and were it not for teams such as the Dragons and Tigers their averages per year would be around the 11,000 mark

They have every reason to be cocky as they are having their best start to a season for years, and they have the wood on us - i think we've beaten them only once in the last 11 meetings.

Injury crisis!!!! compared to them who apparantely have all top 25 fit, i think i read yesterday, we're already having one - Tuiaki, Payten, Lui, Moltzen, Dwyer, Taumata, Cayless, Tupou, both Shirnack brothers and now Robbie Farrah doubtful.

It's just like reading the stuff on this forum, just change Penrith for Tigers and vice versa - not much objectivity.
Of course if anyone does show objectivity the masses cut you down quick enough (_with comments like "you're lossing faith_)
The reality is that they should be favorites.

I dont blame their optimism. They've played good football this year but like us they've have had their bad moments. Their strength is obviously their mobility and size but unlike other years i do think we're better prepared for it. Doesn't mean we'll win but there's no reason we can't. They don't have a Marshall at 5/8, don't have a Tuqiri on the wing so there's 2 things we've got on them and if Farah is cleared to play then we can add a third.
