It seems to be that one has to be invited to play for this new outfit because of the tax implications and Albanese changing the law to suit the players. And himself. Like they just don't want anybody unlike the Perth Bears where the laws are different.

Am I in the ballpark of logic here - or should I get of the pipe?

You would have to be under the influence to consider going there, it's stinking hot, mossies buzzing around your head constantly.

Also if you leave the compound you could lose your head, shrunken and on display on a stick or in a witch doctor's hut.

Appreciate your view Steve. I mean. I never been there. So I have to acknowledge your words and your reply. Thank you brother

Just again - it seems like you have to be invited to play there.

You have Luai - 4 time premiership winner and Johnston - record all time NRL try scorer

When the invitations are exhausted when they get to half their roster requirements they will take anyone who's game.

For me, fly in, have some classic fishing and fly straight out.

Pretty sure that's where they filmed Man From Deep River, the monkey scene still gives me the heebee geebees.

And can you confirm if they filmed Man Bites Dog - there.

You and I know Steve. It's a get in and get out job. It aint about football. They will be well protected. It's about keeping China out. And in this case we got to PNG 's heart strings. Something China will have to work on.

You’re right. But it’s more complicated than that.

PNG has some of the largest gold, copper, and rare mineral deposits in the world, and China is already making moves. There are more than 1,700 Chinese businesses operating in PNG, all staking a claim on that untapped wealth.

Our response is to strengthen ties with PNG through league. That means the Chiefs need to succeed immediately, and only our best players will be targeted.

This will be the team that Albo and V’landys built, funded by taxpayer dollars and driven through the media by Nine via Chammas.

Remember when seemingly everyone said they would run last every year and they wouldn’t attract anyone ? Simplier times

Meantime , Perth just thought they had to mention they had some nice beaches … and everyone would be queing up to join

They've got 1 player at the moment, it doesnt necessarily mean they'll have star studded outfit.
Johnstone will get a contract solely because he has PNG heritage, not a very good signing.

The Bears were never going to attract top tier talent. Evidence of that is the Dolphins. Not even they could attract marquee players in their first season. And they are based in South East Qld. With the Bears, you’re asking players to relocate to the other side of the country. And still pay tax. They’re doomed. Poor bastards.

Bears are just gonna resume being the lovely losers.
It's set up to fail. They've people on the board, like Bracey, solely because he's a norths fan. What could his input be into Perth sporting franchise? Most the board are norths fans or PVL racing buddies. Even Joe Hockey got a gig ! Lol

Its all just so boring for the Bears....theyre still the easybeats when i think of them
All.i see is.images of Mal in what looks.like a grey school jumper...Braycey doesnt conjure images to me of fight or toughness...i see vision of old overweight grey haired bears fans surrounded by walking frames
Its all quite ho hum

I think it will be interesting to see the level of local talent that can make up the 30 squad. I know there are a couple in ESL and around Oz. When I lived in PNG I can certainly vouch for their passion for league but their domestic comp was pretty lacking at that time (2011-14). Also I wonder how the lesser members of the squad will get game time at a competitive level if the local comp is still weak. Access QRL state comp until local comp can be built up?

Edit- even the issue of acceptable grounds is a question. When up there I worked in a government look at sporting facilities and there were only some 4 grounds outside Port Moresby that had a basic but acceptable level of sporting fields. Hopefully that has developed since then.

It certainly put a dampener on me about getting a side over here. I still can't work out how they got their brand back into the NRL and 4 board seats for free. Not a cent or minute spent in Perth.
They dont even have any ownership.

Getting 'back' in the NRL via pity would embarrass me if I was a fan
