Pat Richards

He is not a centre, he is a winger who can play fullback. Changing a winger into a centre late in their career is not as easy as changing the number on his back.

No you can't.

These are not in any specific order, but i belive they are all better players then Pat Richards;
1\. Billy Slater
2\. Jarryd Hayne
3\. Josh Dugan
4\. Ben Barba
5\. Darrius Boyd
6\. Greg Inglis
7\. Brett Stewart
8\. Kevin Locke
9\. Brett Morris
10\. Akuila Uate
11\. Jamie Lyon
12.Steve Matai
13.DCE
14\. Keiran Foran
15.Jorge Taufua
16\. Shaun Johnson
17\. Manu Vatuvei
18\. John Sutton
19\. Adam Reynolds
20\. Jarrod Mullen
21\. Dane Gagai

23\. Krisnan Inu
24\. Josh Reynolds
25\. Matt Bowen
26\. Brent Tate
27\. JT
28\. Robert Lui
29\. Jack Wighton
30\. Terry Campese
31\. Dean Whare
32\. Kevin Gordon

4\. Konrad Hurrell
5 Jacob Loko
6\. Dylan Walker
7\. BJ Leilua
8\. Curtis Sironen
9.Tatau Moga
10\. Isaac John

There are players in which i left off this list who i belive are better (i.e Sisa Waqa, Reese Robinson) as it is difficlut as Pat Richards has played in a second rate comp for the majority of his career. Some of the top 50 are my opinion and therefore disputable - the majority are not. In terms of players who play his position (winger/fullback) who are better than him (a fairer comparison, but i was responding to your crazy statement of Pat Richards being considered one of the best backline players in the world) - there is at least 20 on this list.

It's exciting being able to have this conversation. You would have to thank Mick Potter and I guess the injuries for adding depth into our squad. I can't remember the last time we could talk about depth. I'm excited for the future and thank god we left sheens.

Half the players you named are 5/8's and halfbacks, what purpose does that serve other than trying to make your argument more valid? you might as well name front rowers to, its the same thing if you think about it. If you're going to produce a list, Make it a fair one and fill it will players who play wing/centre/fullback

If you're going to make comparisons you really should only be comparing him against other centres & wingers.

Age isn't on his side, but Jamie Lyon IMO is one of the form centres of the game and he's the same age as Richards.

He's a handy goal kicker, regularly tops the top point scorers list in the ESL and he's pretty handy value in the back five. I think he has a mortgage on Ayshford's jumper, and Blake will move into the second row.

I'm not going to shout down the signing before he even plays a game in our colours. If he performs poorly, then we have cause to complain.

Jamie Lyon has been a class centre all his life. Pat Richards will be a manufactured centre, i think he has mainly played wing and fullback.

The Lyon comparison isnt a good one as he is a ball player. He plays a second five-eighth. Richards had two things going for him. Decent pace and size. However, the game has changed and most wingers are big these days. Pat's comparative advantage has gone. No doubt he has also lost pace with age. He has benefit from playing in a comp that doesnt have the structured defences of the NRL. Collis' success over there is a testament to that.

Pat was a sentamental purchase. He wont be terrible but merely servicable. It will be a tragedy if we lose one of our young kids for him.
