Fairly lacklustre performance once again against a depleted Rabbitohs but always good to win nonetheless.

Thought the positives were ...

Heath Mason, some incisive runs and great long-range cover tackle to save a try 5m out. Was found out early under the high ball losing a contest for Souths to score.

Brent Naden, was by far and away our best player in the 1st half with a beautiful pass to put Staines in, produced a try saver & generally class above. Sat out 2nd half so he will be 18th man tomorrow.

Staines, Tui'tupou & Hope, showing they are quality NSW Cup players & worthy of NRL depth.

Bench forwards Vaka Aho, Bailey Hodges & 18yo debutant Christian Taupau-Moors were solid as were Mapapalangi (when moved to 5/8 in 2nd half), Lobb & Luke Laulilii in the 2nd half. Luke was tested under the high ball early in the 1st half & beaten in a couple of contests and made a poor error in the ptb in his own territory, thankfully improved from there.

Was disappointed with our middles in their 1st stint - Taateo, Kit & Rahme - lost the yardage & contact battle, just dominated in that first 10 mins. Taateo did produce a nice crash play try later but I worry about his strength in contact against bigger opponents although he does bring leg speed.

Concerning our back up props got dominated by a depleted South's squad, we have no depth in the props, we definitely need to recruit better in the middle department
