South Sydney is considering throwing former Titans bad boy Paul Carter a lifeline for the rest of the season.

A great talent, Carter was sacked by the Titans last year after repeated off field incidents – all related to alcohol.

The Rabbitohs already have two class hookers in Issac Luke and Cameron McInnes but may well lose the latter next season.

Carter’s ability to play in the back row may also help him clinch a deal with the injury-hit Bunnies.

This shows why we are a club in shambles, this is a great opportunity to sign a player who is currently under the pump to redeem himself and is awaiting a new opportunity. He is a gun player. Why haven't we approached him? Grant knows, he is a great CEO of course.

If you are assessing him purely on his football ability then he would be a better option than Lovett and Santi and given he has been sacked his initial asking price would be reasonable. The question is whether he has sorted himself out re his off field problems but given his ability and the fact that his asking price would not be great I have no problem signing him as his sacking may have been the wake up call he needed to sort himself out.

On the field we could definitely do with him.

Disregarding his off field misdemeanours he would be a great signing for us.

Souths sign a lot of players with off field issues and it got them a premiership.
