Penrith's Tyrone Peachey confirms he wants out of Gold Coast Titans contract

The cursed backflip is threatening to return to the Titans – although under vastly different circumstances to Daly Cherry Evans’ infamous manoeuvre.

Only weeks after signing a three-year deal with the Titans, rumours began swirling that Tyrone Peachey wanted out of the deal that was announced on March 2.

Days out from taking on the Sharks for a spot in the preliminary finals, Peachey revealed Wednesday that he has given the green light for his manager, Sam Ayoub, to attempt to extract him from the three-year deal.

"I love this club. They gave me this opportunity to play consistent first grade and I wouldn't have left if I didn't have to," he told reporters during during Penrith's media opportunities Wednesday.

"We just built in Penrith so my missus is really comfortable at our new place. I spoke to my manager and told him what I wanted to happen."

Although that sounds like good news for Penrith, they’re unlikely to be able to afford Peachey – even with Corey Harawira-Naera departing for Canterbury in 2019.

Panthers CEO Bryan Fletcher confirmed Peachey will have to find a new home shortly thereafter.

Curiously, in an interview with Omnisport, Sporting News' stablemates, at the end of Penrith's press conference, the Origin utility said he's going to be a Titan in 2019.

"We haven’t heard from Tyrone or his management that he doesn’t want to come to the club," Brennan said.

"That rumour was floating around at Origin time as well and I saw Peach come out in the media and put it to bed back then. I think it is all just speculation.

Well, I'm confused! He wants out, then he's staying, now he wants out again!
Why do these guys sign contracts that they aren't prepared to honour?
If Happy is correct, then that puts a different complexion on things I guess.
And I would prefer their halfback to Peachey for sure.

Oh well, time will tell.

Yep ….. lots of smoke and mirrors going on on lots of signing fronts.
Key for us that we do have the available cap $$$$$s plus there seems to be some influential big financial hitters to support us on the horizon. Interesting times ahead for WT to look forward to.

There was talk a while back that Penrith would be happy to move on Maloney to keep Cleary.
But when presented with that option.
(Gold Coast floated the idea of Maloney for Peachy) Gus said no way? I wonder why?

Peachey signing with the Titans never made much sense especially now with his rumoured contract value being released at 450k. I never understood why we didn’t make an offer surely he stays in Sydney with a young family building anew home of the money is close enough. Concord is not that far from Penrith spar from Parra is the closest club to home.

Obviously some fun and games going on. Peachey wouldnt want out unless he has a better offer. What that is is speculation but at least its interesting.
