People of Townsville

We have a few WT's fans from the beautiful city of Townsville

I sincerely hope that you are all safe ,well and out of harms way

Poor buggers are copping it again , another 130 ml of rain in 3 hours on top of over a metre of rain in 6 days

And they have lots of concerns added , crocs , Ross River fever when the mozzies take hold and at least two more months of cyclone season

Stay safe all , God bless

The dam is now fully opened as well and is releasing 2 million litres of water a second. They are saying this will destroy thousands of homes. Keeping the people of Townsville in my thoughts.

Is there any reason they can't build more dams here and in other areas of North Queensland that always cop rain like this? Once full pipe it to the areas in Australia that need it.

@cktiger yes. The main reason is that there are no politicians in this country with any sort of long term vision, or interest other than self interest in terms of holding their seat in the next election.

This sort of infrastructure would cost a fortune, but the long terms benefits for the country would be endless.

There would also be an endless rabble of greenies chaining themselves to anything that moved (or would be moved) as part of this project to protect anything that could be considered to be impacted by the project.

Actually CK this was the first sign of the monsoon season up north

Know a bloke who is a prawner in the Gulf and he was complaining as you want the rains far earlier like early December to flush all the rivers and creeks out

I think the issue comes down to the water becoming too brackish in winter due to lack of rainfall …...

It looks very serious up there and from what people are saying this amount of rainfall is very unusual.Hopefully everyone up there comes through it ok
