Not sure if a thread has been done on this, but i just thought id ask the question anyway. good and bad experiences. I've met a few. A couple that come to mind

Greg Norman- total and utter douche. Walked past him in a carpark at a tournament one day, walked up to him and got shooed away by his bodyguard. I guess 12 yr olds with cap's and texters can be pretty dangerous 😕

Dene Halatau-Awesome, awesome guy. Met him at a christmas fair for disabled children after the 05 GF and he was a real down to earth guy

Tim Simona- Another good guy. Met him at Ctown, at the titans game when all the Polyenesian boys were there raising money for the guy who lost his family in Brisbane. He seemed wrapped that some recognized him :laughing:

Theres a heap more who i've met, but only the 'hey hows it goin'' type thing. Was spewing about 1 thing though. When i was young i use to go to a lot of golf tournaments, and 1 day i was there Michael Campbell, the Kiwi golfer, gave me two golf balls. I lost them, and he went on to win the U.S Open :imp:
 
Lote Tuqiri: Decent enough guy, saw him out on a Saturday night, while his g/f was in the bathroom I asked him for a photo, he seemed happy enough, although he seemed to get very frustrated pretty quickly and left when it seemed like everyone in the club wanted a photo with him.

Luke Stuart: Did a school visit at our school when I was in year 10 for part of the Arrive Alive program. Also seemed like a decent bloke and had to hang around for an hour afterwards to sign autographs afterwards for the entire grade and it didn't bother him (even when half the grade didn't know who he was).

Rod Carew: American baseball legend who I met when I went to the states when I was 15 to play some baseball. Typical sporting legend, told some great stories that had us all rolling on the floor, and was just a really decent bloke.

Isaac Luke: Absolute tool, nothing he really did, but you could tell by how he carried himself. Looked as though he wanted to deck anybody who looked at him as realised who he was. May have just been a bad night for him, but he didn't seem like a friendly guy.
 
Refused entry to an intoxicated Brett Kimmorley, he was actually pretty good to deal with, said "Sorry Brett, we're just about to close" he staggered and said "Yeah no problems" or words to that effect.

Said hello to Jason Taylor that same night as he just strolled on through the door like he owned the joint….
 
Daryl Brohman - Have a mate in the club industry who has quite a few good connections. Met the big mahn through him, he was such a nice bloke. Friendly and down to earth, everything that you'd expect him to be after seeing him on the footy show.

Paul Nobby Clarke - Met him through the same connection, he played a bit of reggies and firsts with balmain in the late 80s before winning a grand final with penrith and finished up at parramatta. He too was a nice bloke, funny, genuine and down to earth. Regularly visits the old man at his coffee shop for a coffee and a chat.

Ronnie Gibbs - Former prop for Manly years ago. Regularly drops into my parents shop for a coffee. Wouldn't say he's a big name or anything, but he's a lovely old bloke. He came in with Mario Fenech the other week on their way to an indigenous football event. Mario was pleasant also.

Mark O'neill - This is one that will stick with me forever. I went down to the world 7s as a kid with dad and we were leaving to go home, in the carpark I've spotted Mark O'neill and shyly gone up with a texta for his autograph. He stopped and talked to me and dad for about 10 mins about football, the world 7s, the tigers and to whether I played myself. Genuine gentleman.
 
Norm Provan - In my eyes this bloke is greater than a few Immortals. I had gone many years waiting for my chance to sit down with Norm and talk. My opportunity came over a Luncheon and I will always remember how polite and statesman like he was. I now run into Norm on regular occasions, and he always asks me how my Tigers are going. A true gentleman of the game!
 
See/chat to a lot of the knights players on a weekly basis.
Junior Sau is probably the coolest.
Spoke to Isaac De Gois about girls & Wayne Bennet once too.
Former Olympic basketball player Tonny Jensen.
Saw Adam McDougal yesterday and he gave me the thumbs up.
Also saw Suiatonga Likiliki and he's looking buff.

I have met a fair few famous people The school I went to in Ipswich was a who's who of sportsman The 3 Walters boys Kevin ,Kerrod and Steve .Had Craig Polla Mounter ,Jumping Jai Taurima Brett Plowman was same grade but the three I will pick out are

Craig McDermott Was in the nets facing my own age division bowlers and Craig showed up to do some practise (He also was an IGS boy) and got to face him for about 15-20 minutes This would of been only a few months before his Test debut Absolutely frightening stuff the first few balls basically hit the bat before I had moved Must admit at the end of the session you were just starting to get used to the speed

Allan Langer Was playing underage at the Jets while he was there in 1986,87 He never really changed Used to love stirring him up at the local nightclub by bringing the tallest person I could find in the nightclub to meet him and getting them to ask him how tall he was (He absolutely hated that)His response was always the same "6 foot fn 3" :laughing:

Willie Carne Nicest bloke you would met Was in the same class for three years and we played rugby together and cricket in the B's Typical country boy Quiet but you knew you could trust and rely on him no matter what

Played against a lot of people mainly league Steve Renouf ,Andrew Gee ,Tony Hearn ,Dean Schifilitti ,Alan Cann ,Craig Teevan,Brett Horsnell etc and was fortunate to play against Timmy Horan in Union .
Now my son and Jason Hetherington are in the same class at school
 
Brett Hodgson lived just around the corner from me before he went to the UK. Didn't really see him that often. When my sister in law found out that she had a rare form of cancer and being and 3rd generation Balmain supporter and now Weststigers and Hodgson fan, I thought the next time I saw him I would ask if he would mind doing me a favour give her a call to cheer her up. With no hesitation he agreed.I rang my brother when I got home to pre warn him and Brett was already on the phone. Unfortunately he rang when all three generations where visiting and spoke to everyone of them.
I then dropped in a bottle of Bourbon in apprceciation, Brett was not home but his wife knew of my sister in laws story and was very compassionate and friendly as well.
The next time my son crossed paths with Brett at the local shopping centre he pulled him aside and had a good chat to him.
I could not speak more highly of Brett and his wife, a lovely couple.

Gee's it hurt, me coming from the magpie side of the joint venture and having Brett talking to all those Balmain supprters.My family would have loved to talk to him. :laughing:

PS. His call must of worked as my sister in law is doing fine.
 
How about some bad experiences. Anyone ever seen a guy make a total tool of himself? ever heard the old 'do you know who i am' routine? A mate of my dads once told me he was at Jupiters once and was at a table, and had an incident with Shane Heal, where he pushed ahead of him or something like that and he used the old 'do you know who i am'? I think my dads mates response was something along the lines of 'no, but i know what you are, an effin goose'
 
When i worked in England i used to pull beers for Ronnie Wood (guitarist for the rolling stones)that was cool meeting him & a really nice guy, i thought he would be a tosser seeing that hes in the biggest rock band still around.
Met Pele when i was 13 & i know some league players but i don't consider any footy players celebs
 
I met Kostya Tszyu . He was the most humble person I had met, especially considering at the time he was the boxing champ.
 
I served Bill Clinton (he was the ex President then) and he came and spoke to all the staff after dinner. As he was talking to us all, he made an effort to shake everyones hand and put his hand on my shoulder to thank me. He was always smiling, telling weird jokes and everyone kept laughing (maybe they were scared his SS Agents would shoot them?)

A greater daunting moment was attending a dinner with the late Kerry Packer. I was one table over but I seriously tell you all, this guy was larger than life and whenever he spoke, you couldve heard a pin drop. He had the worst laugh ever, and I think most people were laughing at his laugh, but it got the reception he seemed to want…
 
Met jarred hayne at campbelltown and he was one of the nicest blokes I've ever spoken too. I always thought he was a bit of a tool but he was only too happy to have his photo taken with my kid. Also took our light hearted banter extremely well!
Also met brocky at Bathurst and he was an absolute champion.
One of the most arrogant blokes I have ever met is mark skaife. I was a big fan of his until I met him, I might have caught him on a bad day but he was signing autographs and you could just tell he didn't wanna be there, wouldn't even say g'day when you went up to get ya stuff signed

Sorry forgot an important one . Met and danced with Dawn Fraser at a conference about 8 years ago at the Gold Coast She was the guest speaker the following morning and while everyone was asking uninspiring questions about swimming etc Hungover Happy asked the important questions about the Tigers and how we were going to go that year Can I say she was good value and didn't mind taking photos being whisked away by Happy on the dance floor etc
 
met and chatted with jeff lindsay, writer of dexter at a book launch earlier this year. a bit of a character who said his ideas for writing about dexter came after his guest speaking at a business leaders conference in miami and afterwards chatting with those corp execs who in his words were very superficial, who talked through him and not to him. he thought about ways of sorting them out and thus dexter was born. met and talked with kim beazley ( before he was knifed by krudd ) , a genuine sincere bloke who was probably too good a person for the grubby side of fed politics.

My daughter used to work in Go-Lo and one day, in 2005, Craig Gower came in wearing his panthers polo shirt with "Craig" embroidered on it (That's so he remembers who he is!!!). As she served him, he started chatting to her and then he said, "Do you know who i am?" and, knowing full welll who he was, she pointed to his shirt and said, "Craig?" He said "I'm Craig _GOWER._ I play for the panthers." She asked him if was in the reserve grade team… hahahaha He got shirty and asked if she followed footy at all. She said, "Oh yes! I am a WESTS TIGERS fan! I sort of know the coach, you know? Tim Sheens? And how good are Bryce Gibbs and Liam Fulton? I love footy!!" He left and she couldn't wait to ring me and tell me what a clown he was.

A week or two later, as part of the arrive alive program, Dean Colliss and I forget who else, came to her school. She was being bullied at the time, and it totally made her day when Dean recognised her from the weekend before, and spoke to her for quite a while. It certainly got up the noses of a few of the dirt bags who were making her life hell :smiley:

I think the funniest thing out of this is that he was trying to come across as a big shot, yet he was shopping in Go-Lo
