Peter Peters stood down for sexist gaffe

Pretty poor form from Peters, though he is Manly scum. She's there to do her job, not to cop a sleazy quip from a many probably old enough to be her grandfather. As for the people who say it wasn't sexist, though I don't normally like to go down this route, but do you think if it was a bloke asking for a comment he would've copped something like that, or just a "no comment"? I wouldn't like to see him lose his job over it though (as it's been said, he's given decades of service to our game), just fine him and move on, which is probably what will happen.

People please. Peters tactics were nothing more than diversion tactics WHICH WORKED.

Nothing more, nothing less. The comments threw the little princess off her gig and she giggled and was stopped in her tracks as all young Princesses do when you tell them they are beautiful.

Oldest (Greek) trick in the book.

with a name like Peter **Peters**….hahaha...he is embarrassed of his heritage, which is why he changed his name...he is an embarrassment to the game...and a dinosaur to boot!...Get a real Job **Peter Petropopoulos!**

Manly must've been looking for an opportunity to get rid of him - oh well

Id have to agree with you. Manly dont discard their own when they are in trouble, but they dropped him ho so easily

They worked alright, and they diverted him right to the Centrelink queue.

Manly will have a significant problem because part of being is you must have a media manager. With Manly making him 'redundant' means the position will no longer exist after the Grand Final. This could get interesting considering the relationship between the NRL and Manly.

I'm enjoying this.

Gary, I wasn't challenging the ill-timing of the comment, I'm challenging the thread title that his comment is sexist.

It was a sleazy and inappropriate response to a serious question.

No worries.

There are other issues with Peters. He is responsible for their marketing and has taken this "everyone hates manly" to far. There is a minority of manly fans and players who believe the nrl has an agenda against manly and use it as a defence for irresponsible actions. They take no responsibility for their actions.

Yes - and it goes even further than that. This seige mentallity that Manly has created for itself is indeed a defense mechanism gone wrong. The coach displays it, officials display it, the players display it and the fans display it. It's one thing to use it for inspiration but another totally to use it as an excuse to show disrespect or for violent actions.

As reported in the media, Brookvale Oval is now a hostile environement and some fans will no longer go there. This mentality could possibly even have been a contributing factor to the on-field brawling.

This attitude will eventually come back to haunt them - that may yet even be the case this year.

Perhaps cutting Peters loose is the start of trying to rectify this behaviour?

Zorba is a little dated with his attitudes and while his Manly bias is sometimes quite repugnant, he may well be the very last commentator whose opinions are so direct and uncompromising. The rest of the shallow bastards are slaves to their various media masters. Such allegiances dictate every word they utter

He has never shied away from any accusation of bias, he acknowledges that totally, he also notes that he wouldnt have it any other way and he…. (and i agree with him on this) ..... feels a sense of pity for those that have no team and only follow the game as such, thus missing the highs and lows one gets when one supports a particular club
