1\. Commonsense can save Wests Tigers
Herald journalist Andrew Webster on Tuesday revealed the alarming story regarding the financial pressure being experienced by Wests Tigers. The Tigers are, of course, a merger between the old Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. It would appear from this report the joint venture is in serious financial trouble and an immediate rescue package is needed. I certainly hope egos can be put aside and commonsense prevails so a workable solution to their predicament can be administered. Reading between the lines, I don't think the Wests Ashfield club is being at all unreasonable regarding the conditions it requires to continue funding the club, given the Balmain side of the partnership is unable to make any financial contributions at this time. The game can ill-afford to lose a popular brand such as the Wests Tigers. We shouldn't be so astonished at the news of a financially struggling NRL club though. I know several clubs that have been hurting badly for years because of the inadequate funding packages provided under the David Gallop administration. We need to get serious about club sustainability. Commonsense everyone please.

3\. Andrew Fifita is reaching superstar status
My, oh my; hasn't this young man come on as a footballer. Cronulla's Andrew Fifita is fast becoming the most influential front-row forward in the NRL. Gifted with size and raw ability, the younger version of Fifita had obvious potential; however, one could've been excused for questioning whether or not he would have the application to turn his God-given talents into a successful career. Such assessment has now been turned on its head. This bloke is a sensation. He is so athletic for a big man. Fifita really has his head into his football, too. He talks passionately about his role within the team and very humbly about his contributions. There can be no doubting though, Fifita can influence the results of games - and he knows it. The scary part is that he is only going to get better.
