Phil Rotfield delivers his fearless predictions for 2012

As much as I would love to see the likes on Parramatta, Canterbury and Penrith struggle in 2012, I think the NRL needs to have a dominance of teams from Western Sydney throughout the 2012 season campaign, better if it were an All Sydney grand final and even better if Wests Tigers were to win the GF!

We all know that the AFL and GWS won't back down in the battle for the west and with GWS to be a certain wooden spooner, it would be an excavation mark on a year that proves the Rugby League dominance of Western Sydney if the NRL saw an All Sydney GF.

You Sydney folk believe anything written in the papers… First you believed the rubbish about a 'Super League War' and now you believe the 'Battle for Western Sydney'. Do you understand the geographical reality out there? The AFL have been there for the last 10 years sowing there seeds with great results. The only battle which is happening out there is the battle of TV Audiences between Nine & Ten... No wonder Phil 'the shirt lifter' Gould is heading up the case once again...

Both AFL & NRL will survive out there!

As long as manly crash and burn in 2012 I'll be happy. My prediction is they don't make the 8, although that's more wishful thinking than insightful analysis.

I also will be very happy when the Sea Eagles, Drags, Bulldogs, Roosters & Storm crash & burn in 2012!!!
I believe that the WestsTigers have a lot more talent not only in the First Grade Squad but throughout the grades that it will only be there own poor performances &/or coaching as a team that will not deliver a premiership not only in 2012 but also in 2013,2014 ,2015 at least!!!!!!!
I honestly think that looking at all the other teams recruitment & who they have at each position/depth WestsTigers look very, very strong in comparison!!!!!
Forget the question marks over the halfback position & fullback position these will be filled will the best available players & either way the players we have for these positions are all good anyway!!!! :sign:
The other good news it is only just over 60 days till the season starts !!!! YAHOO!!!! :stuck_out_tongue: :righton:

I love the optimism!!

Blair will be buy of the year, but sandow is good guys dunno why the hate for him, he is tough excellent kicking game, excellent goal kicker and a game breaker, poor guy has had sutton inside him for 3 years who plays 3 good games a year if that, he will go good at parra

And look who he'll have inside him at Parra, Ben Roberts. One of the most average first graders running around. So things won't be any different for Sandow in that respect, if anything it will be worse. The guy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed off the field, and i realy think he'll struggle to adapt to the culture at Parra, which is a far more professional run club then the laughing stock he has come

I normally agree with your assessments GNR, but here I can't. I reckon Roberts is lacking a quality half outside him just as much as Sandow is lacking a genuine pivot and outside backs. Parra will have a decent backline next year and Sandow will not carry as much of a burden. He will thrive at Parra IMO. He had an underdone Inglis, sporadic Sutton, hopeless Talanoa, ageing Wesser, and youngster in Farrell, which left Merritt as the only proven back there.

Parramatta isn't as professional as the media would have you believe…

i think sandow is talented, but is the sort of player that comes up with big plays, but has no structure or decision making to go with it.

I also think they bought another lot of fairweather attacking geniuses who are as inconsitent as hell.

They have Sandow, ROberts, Hayne, Maitua and Tonga who are all exactly the same in that regard.

If they go off together they will run 50+ past someone, but there will be weeks where they are diabolical.

I'm pretty confident in saying that Parra won't run 50 past anyone this yr. Only a chance if they play a team in crisis like we were midway through last yr. I think you are very kind to call guys like Maitua and Roberts attacking geniuses, even if you meant it as front runners. In JB cup maybe, not FG. And I think Tonga's best dayz are behind him as well. Take out Hayne and Sandow who have their moments, and Parra have bugger all

Sandow is going to be a failure if Eels look to him as a saviour or see him as "the next Sterlo".

I agree. let him play his natural game.
he can have a great season, as long as his performances against wests-tigers are crap

lol… the last team to go back to back was in 97-98\. To say we will win 4 on the trot is, while admirable, somewhat crazy!

To think we will get past 2013 with a similar squad is somewhat had to believe considering we have Ellis; Farah; Fulton; Galloway & Heighington off contract all in that same year.

Ellis will definatley move on at the end of 2013\. Heigno will most likely too. 2014 might be similar to 2012 where there is a significant changing of the guard

Hi,
I don't come on the forums much, very little actually, but are you sure that 2013 will be Ellis's last season with the Tigers.

As much as I dont rate Roberts, he does have brilliant moments between brain snaps, he actually holds (or at least held at the beginning of last year) th record for the most try assists in a game.

I thought Maitua had some good moments last year, once again dont rate him overly highly, but he is another dangerous attacker when things go wrong.

When things go right for all those players mentioned they cash in, but they also dont always go right.

It looks that way mate. He has said he wants to end his career in England

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one Goose. I'll admit i'm very bias towards Parra as i hate them with a passion. Maitua did have his moments though last yr, i'll give you that

Sandow is a great off the cuff player, but he has been playing behind a very strong pack, I dont know if he is going to get the same go forward from the parra pigs. IMO Sandow biggest problem is himself, thats on and off the field, if he gets his head in the right space for long enough he will be a champion
