Individually there are some decent stats in there, but the missed tackles tell the story. Souths made 10 line breaks to the Tigers 1, and this all came about because the Tigers had no line speed or killer instinct in defence.

Some credit goes to Souths defence but our creative spine was utterly inept

Just about sums it up particularly the LACK OF KILLER INSTINCT IN DEFENCE, sitting there watching the complete lack of effort from too many was very very disappointing. They looked like they thought they were never going to win or just weren't interested in playing, brought back memories of the SCG game a few years ago when Souths smashed Wests Tigers. I could handle sitting there being surrounded by Souths supporters if our blokes put in but still fell short but fair dinkum, it was embarrassing, the attitude for most was salt lacking. We need another woods to assist him with punching the ball up so we don't have to resort to cross field plays all the time and end up scoring from a kick only..

I am going to make an unpopular statement about Beau.

He gives everything he has and his passion for the club and the game is great but really he is not very good

The weird thing is I have been a fan of the heart and passion Ryan has shown this year but the fact he has been one of, if not the best back for this season doesn't mean he should be in the side next year.

His competitive attitude and efforts have been great but the reality is he just isn't good enough, fast enough or strong enough to warrant a walk up start into an NRL back line.

The fact he has been a standout and virtually zero consequence/demotion for our backline speaks utter volumes about how badly Sheens has messed things up

Beaus skills have doubled in the past 2 years. He is no speedster but he can finish a try, has senstional ball skills, he can defend, he attacks the ball and he believes in himself. I dont see how you can state he is not very good.

How many individual tries has he created from nothing this year and last? He did it again yesterday but was robbed.
How many times has he marked Manu and beaten him personally?

He constantly puts his body on the line in attack and defence.

After Benji, he is the next back picked in my side every day of the week. He will be runner up club player of the year this season behind Woodsie and deservably so. He has outplayed every international in the side this year. If only the rest of the backs gave a crap as much as he did we would be in a lot stronger position this year.

Agree Stryker.

But I see how you may feel that way about Beau, Smeg. He is not a stand-out in the fullback position, at least not like a Bowen/Barba/Stewart type which are hard acts to follow, but how all are judged. This is because Beau's attacking prowess from the back is not as frequent or effective as these guys, but perhaps if he'd been given a go at the back since the start of the year he could have vastly improved in this area - after all he has improved out of sight as a winger, who's to say he couldn't have improved as a fullback?

Anyway, well done Beau, you gave your all and your stats do show your value.

Beau's got nothing to do with it. It's like someone forgot to tell him to play crap this year. I reckon he'd walk into almost any NRL side. Go back and look at the stats! This reminds me of the guy who blamed Allan Border for Australia's woeful mid-80's form!

He also doesn't seem to direct the defensive line well but again that could be an experience thing
