This confirms what everyone was saying about Mitch "Grub and low life".

Newcastle Knights star Mitchell Pearce's wedding has been cancelled after he allegedly sent racy text messages to a young female club employee.
Pearce was due to be married on Tuesday to partner Kristin Scott in Byron Bay, but a report in the Daily Telegraph, which has been confirmed by The Sydney Morning Herald, revealed the wedding has now been called off.

I spoke to a member of his family just last week who mentioned the wedding was being postponed because of the Covid bubble. K. Foran is his best man and couldn't make it to Byron Bay from the northern beaches, several others couldn't enter from Qld. The texting story is a beat up and the Telegraph have again shown just what a rag they are.

Sorry to highlight this mate but is Mitch still running with the "it's postponed because of COVID dammit" charade?

Nup. he's guilty. But I'll give you a tip, I famously tipped the Broncos to get the spoon last season because the players hated Seibold. I'm tipping Newcastle this season because of the split this has caused.

Mitch resigns as Knights captain, he keeps his contact, the girl he texted now no longer employed by the Knights, seems like she gets punished more than Mitch.

If she had stayed at the Knights how uncomfortable would it have been for her at least by leaving things should settle a lot quicker for her.

Whaaaat? - so she has to quit over that lowlife - I hope the NRL investigate whatever payout they made as being part of their salary cap.

She didn't have to quit but how difficult would it have been for her if she had stayed put your self in her place would you have stayed?

Club should have kept her and flicked him.
The reason Mitch's ex didn't want to marry him is because she didn't want to be treated like a dog.

I certainly highly suspect that the fix is in a lot of the time. I don’t think every play in the game is scripted beforehand, but I feel there’s definitely a result the referee has in mind before the game starts, and they do what they can to make that happen. It doesn’t go their way 100% of the time, but I suspect it’s most of the time.
Edit: So yeah Steve, scripted is probably the wrong word, probably a bit over the top.
The blatant subjectivity in refereeing, the judiciary, dealing with salary cap cheating, favourable gifts, it’s just gotten more and more blatant over the years, so much so that they barely try to hide it anymore.

What baloney.

I'm curious to understand what specific benefit NRL gains from Melbourne Storm winning another premiership. If anything, a Tigers win is as beneficial to NRL as anything, as it re-awakens a powerhouse supporter group that hasn't experienced success since 2011.

I'm also curious to understand how Broncos getting wooden spoon benefits NRL, considering many folks think they have a "rails run" with game scheduling.

Does it help NRL for Roosters to win back-to-back premierships, or are they just paid-off by Uncle Nick?

Conspiracies up the wazoo and not a shred of evidence, how Trumpian.

The NRL wouldn't think it's important that they have a very successful team in the heartland of its greatest competitor footy-code wise? How much interest do you think would be in the Melbourne Storm in Victoria if they have a few seasons scraping the bottom of the ladder? Pretty much zero.
Why do you think the AFL have thrown ridiculous money hand-over-fist at the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants. To get as much of a foothold in rival territory as possible obviously.
You always hear people in NSW bemoan the fact that a huge volume of grounds are having rugby uprights replaced with AFL goalposts. It must be hugely noticeable.
To say that the NRL wouldn't have a massive interest in having a successful team from Victoria is pretty astonishing TBH.

It’s not that noticeable . In my area the south coast , there’s like 1 AFL ground per area. I personally don’t think playing RL at a junior level as in RL and that’s it , ie. up to u9s , is of any real benefit , unless the kid loves RL a that much more than every other sport.
Diversity in skills , people , training styles , playing at different times etc . Is way more important . AFL is difficult to watch unless you’re very passionate . And if it’s not on TV then it’s not being spoken about in the class rooms , and play ground , so outside of the occasional Aus kick session at the primary school , it’s extremely difficult for AFL to get anything like a foothold . It’s why it’s costing them a fortune .
Now that the Swans are garbage and GWS if they played thier games at Fairy Meadow sports ground , would still fit all the supporters in , we will see how much inroads AFL really has made.
Rugby made much bigger inroads around 2000 off the back of in fighting caused by super league . Now look where that sport is after a couple of lean years .

For those that are interested and yes I know he isn’t playing anymore but honestly I was a bit shocked to say the least when I read this and what has become of Brett’s life, very sad.

Former rugby league footballer Brett Dallas outside Mackay courthouse.

Former Mackay NRL star Brett Dallas could face up to 25 years jail if convicted of aggravated methylamphetamines possession.

Next week he will make a bail bid after spending more than six months in custody on remand.

The 46 year old is charged with 13 offences including the aggravated possession of ice, supplying ice, producing marijuana, possessing ketamine and weapons category D/H/R.

His case was listed in Mackay Magistrates Court for a hand-up committal and bail application on January 7.

However because of issues with the videolink the bail application could not proceed.

He has been in custody on remand since June last year and it is the first time he has been behind bars.

Mr Dallas shot to stardom in 1995 for a 90-metre runaway try that helped secure Queensland’s Origin series win.

The former Queensland and Australia rugby league winger has played five Tests and 10 State of Origin games as well as club stints at the Bulldogs, North Sydney and English club Wigan.

After playing seven seasons with the English Super League he retired in 2007.

Legal Aid Queensland defence solicitor Rosie Varley said her client’s matter would proceed by way of full hand-up committal “with no submissions”.

The case was listed next Friday for a bail application. https://content.api.news/v3/images/bin/ed65684277379749ab0b5e4fa0156103?width=1024

Look for him on Twitter and Instagram, it is sad. Talk about people controlling his mind and various other strange posts.

It looks like he has a pretty serious mental illness. These type of behaviours have been somewhat common in retired NFL players and a number have been linked to CTE.

This is why it is imperative that the NRL and clubs keep funding the youth progams so the young ones have a good idea of what needs to be done with their life after Rugby League, some already participate in education programs such as carpentry and legal studies...
the ones at risk are the guys like our JTJ that have ongoing mental problems that need to be managed, our club and to Souths credit have him on a program that he can at least have a normal life after footy...they should be congratulated on caring for the man first...

NRL to speak to players flashing gang signs during during games, post-match interviews

The NRL will speak to players and clubs about their links to gang culture after it was revealed rap gangs may be using unauthorised footage of footballers making symbols or gestures after scoring tries or during post-match interviews.

A number of high-profile stars including Josh Addo-Carr, Jack Wighton and Brian To'o have made public gestures or have been photographed with rap groups with the images then often posted on social media without their knowledge.

When Addo-Carr made a symbol during a post-match interview last year, a social media account for "drill" rapper Hooligan Hefs re-posted it with the caption "LETS FKN TROT !! congrats brother".

Addo-Carr denied he was making gang signs, saying it held a deeper meaning to him.
The Storm star during a game last year. (Nine)

"I was born in Doonside and that is just to remind myself where I came from and has nothing to do with being gangs,'' Addo-Carr said.

"I'm proud of where I come from but want to make it clear that no one should get involved in gangs."

Over the past two seasons police have noticed high-profile players have seemingly innocently been making hand symbols used by Sydney's feuding street gangs.

"The players have no idea that they are used by these (gang) members on their social media accounts,'' a NSW police officer said.
