Player Recruitment

players like Grant might find life a little better (if he stays) with Packer,Matilino and McQueen bolstering our pack in 2018\. Very hard to objectively judge anyone in our system at present with the team being a total shambles

Should be ideal to introduce JJ and Tatola and other young forwards into the NRL team with these experienced players around them. We know what Grant can and can't do, it's time for the younger players to be given an opportunity.

Agree with the comments above. If the one year deal for Grant is a small contract then I'm happy to have him in the 30 man squad . Good to have some depth in the front row dept. if he's asking too much or for two years , then it's a no .

From what was said in the Coach/CEO interview . ….. I doubt that either Grant or Niquama will be with the club next year.

Tim Grant plays like a 90 year old arthritic woman with an oddly shaped stick up her arse.

He looks like a nice bloke though…....

All depends on how much we are paying them. Would I love our squad to be strong enough to have grant to be the first prop depth? God yeah. Price v quality. We can't have 4 representative props in our side.

And if he is there for depth. Is it good that he is a good bloke with strong cultural traits. Heck yeah.

Grant is off to the Rabbitohs

Wait, you serious?

I need to know if this is considered official or unofficial as a rumour.

Yeah, Pascoe seemed like he was being as polite towards Kev as possible. Trying to be diplomatic. Pretty safe bet that the only 2 players who will survive from our backline this year will be Noffa and Suli.

It's unofficial unless BalmainBoy is secretly Ivan Cleary.

Fair call

Matt Mcilwick has been re-signed for another 2 years.

Good luck to him. I wasn't a supporter of his acquisition but full credit to him for playing with heart under what has been a difficult year. He has earned this new contract.

Young players need to be introduced into a team with experienced players who can guide them but also keep their egos and attitudes in check. Can you imagine Junior Pearce or Tommy tolerating some of the attitudes that have been displayed this year by certain players?

It's an official unofficial rumour!
See it's as clear as mud.

Maybe I dreamt it.. in which case.. I will apologise.

He does have an option to stay at the Tigers but is considered 'likely' to return to the Rabbits after he was reluctantly squeezed out due to the salary cap to accommodate Sam Burgess's return. However, I would suggest that Tom Burgess may be hitting the open market in the not too distant future which may or may not be related to Grant returning.

I think we need to decide on if we sort our front or our back first.

Players "Gel" together. Were not a flight deck, were not going to heavily recruit for 1 season.

We either sign the Center and Fullback we want OR we sign the front and second row we want. My thoughts, Front row. Get a good forward pack, sign people in the back who can do the job and then wait for good names to come up.

I want to get our pack sorted as well but it's a question of what do we need and who are we going to play.

Middle players:- Packer, Matulino, Aloiai, Twal, Felise, Tatola, potentially Grant and possibly some juniors.
Edge players:- Lawrence, McQueen

The question is where does ET fit if he is staying at the club. I reckon he is better in the middle but I like the idea of playing 3 middle players and a big bench all game. If ET goes to an edge we have small edge players but they are all quality although they are all smallish edge runners.

I think I like the idea of buying a beast middle player and playing ET on the right edge. I don't think you can pick all three of Lawrence, McQueen and ET though if ET plays on the edge.

If we play just one hooker then we can afford one backrower on the bench but I think we will run with McIlwrick and Liddle.

I think we are looking a lot better in the pack already for next year compared to this year.

Outside backs are also a problem. If you are naming your top 17 for the year, you would not want to see names like MWZ, Kev, Thompson and Fonua.

I'd imagine Lewis will re-sign at Cronulla, but if not I'd love to get him or Hoffman in for 12 months. Both have been there done that at the very highest level, and would be a great tutor to some of the younger guys. Not only the backrowers, but across the board players could learn from them in terms of professionalism and mentality.

Cleary cut Lewis when he was 29 at the Panthers. Doubt he'll sign him at 34\. That's not going to happen.

No Cleary didn't cut Lewis, Lewis asked for a release because the club was in salary cap trouble and he thought he needed a new start and it would help the club.

In the forwards I think we are just two or three good NRL standard players away from a complete pack for 2018.
We still have about 10 players to go to make up the top 30.

Really like Mcillrick. Makes more good decisions than bad ones looks classy.
Jev can win us a game and loose us one but looks bad in a weak team but may thrive in an above average one. Looks good when we win so I'd keep him.

Paasi and Tagatese goo8solid tough players. We just need players to give time to Brooks and Reynolds. And I would make Reynolds captain. Give him a reason to love us more than the dogs with responsibility.
Wish next season started this week.
