Players going backwards - Senior players must be in the gun

We can blame Sheens all we like, and he deserves the blame. However some of these SENIOR players, you do have to take some responsibility for your performances. Some of our guys with nice profiles and good reputations are simply letting us down way too often. These guys are experienced 1st graders. They all went backwards this year.

These are players that are chalked up for 20+ games a season for years to come. They are players who are untouchable in terms of being dropped. Where does that leave us??

Moltzen - Timid Tim, errors galore, no consistency, selective courage.
Tuquiri - Like an old broken down bus, he is finished, too slow, error, prone.
Ayshford - Very lethargic season, at the crossroads
Lawrence - Had his injury issues so maybe an excuse, but gee whiz he is a mile from the player he promised to be
Marshall - Very poor season, errors galore, awful defence, poor options, lack of leadership
Blair - Exposed as a very undisciplined, lazy player with a poor defensive work rate and low overall workrate
Heighington - Though he was decent in the last 6 weeks, but overall he is on the slide and in the twilight
Galloway - Another ok season with fits and starts, nothing special.

These players are our senior players. These blokes play 20 plus games for us a season. None of them have enhanced their reputation. Many are rep players, and played like State Cup players. They are inconsistent. They are unreliable. We can throw all the mud at the coach, and its high time he took the responsibility. However some of these blokes should go down with him on the sinking ship. We lacked leadership outside of Farah this year. Woods was outstanding and a few punched above their weight (Utai, Ryan, Bell etc). However overall these blokes I named shouldn't escape the heat.

The named players have all had very average seasons…. Problem is they don't fear their positions are in jeopardy!!!!

Yep Good post. And we make out that someone like Beau ryan has had a "unbelievable season" when all he has been is solid.

The above names have all been very poor this year. Galloway the exception, he has probably been decent at best.

Beau hasnt had an unbelievable season mate, he has simply improved upon 2011 in which he improved upon 2010\. He is going in the right direction.

All of those named players and I would say Ellis is with them, have been aweful and questions need to be asked as to why.

The only reason I left out Ellis was because he is leaving. The rest are not at the minute. Ellis has been ordinary.

now with round 26 approaching, so much dejection, frustration and disappointment.

just seems they can't live up to, or deliver on expectation.

Fulton has been close to MOM all year-unsung hero.Farah has also been outstanding.
Once Ellis learned we'd signed Blair for >40% more than he was getting,he's had one foot in the door of BA 001 back home.And i dont blame him..Blair doesnt deserve to be mentioned in the same breath tbh.
Galloway has(on the few occasions he's actually been available to play )proven totally one dimensional..given his coach was a prop,its inconceivable he hasnt developed in the past few seasons.
So of all the big $$ players(ie .$300kpa),Lote,Blair,Galloway,Ellis,Lawrence have all made minimal contributions,whilst Benji has been..well,Benji.Thats almost half the salary cap that has underdelivered.
..& that ladies & gentlemen WAS 2012.
Im glad we got smashed today & exposed the very real issues within the club,rather than hide behind refs decisions & injuries.

I forgot Liam Fulton in the original post. He's put his body on the line all year and done admirably. He deserves a wrap. He is never going to make rep sides but he can be satisfied with his season far more then the players I mentioned at the top.

Sprained wrist was the mail Fox Sports had. Maybe it's a broken wrist instead?

for me, i've been really surprised with utai this season. i mean i knew his runns are priceless but the entire time i kept thinking his bad defense will let him down sooner or later and to his credit he has tried his heart out in defense as well.

I hated the idea of him going back on the right wing after injury as i thought reddy should've been chosen in front of him, mainly due to his safety under the high ball.

cudos to utai for giving a 100% this year and maybe part of the minor group of people who played to their potential.

tossing up between beau and utai as to who should be on the right wing next year.

Great post @ op. sheens must not be the only one held accountable for this season.

Hino= adds nothing, warm body at best.
Big red= adds nothing, missed alot of the season to boot.
Benji= is starting to be a liability…by starting I mean is a liability.
Lote=should of retired last season
Ashford/ lawrance = players that have gone backward. Will end up part of a long list of NRL players " that might have been"
Moltzen= nuff said.
Blair= literally stealing from wests...every month he gets a check is a month that he is stealing from members pockets.

To me this season is about how Ryan, utai and woods have played above and beyond with a special mention to Fults who continues to prove he is a club man. Forget hino, fulton deserves a parade.

You can point fingers at players etc etc and I agree with the observations.

But for so many to be under-performing, what is the common demoninator? I'll tell you. Coaching staff.

Good coaches bring out the best in their players, just take a look around the top end of the comp.

Good sides have cohesion and team work, look at Manly. You get this by hours and hours of drills on the training paddock although players need some skill to pull it off. We are a rabble, their is very little structure in fact we play the game very much like Rugby sevens.

Anyway along with Sheens their are quite a few players that should be punted or if under contract sent packing to reserves. This team needs a massive dose of enthusiasm. I agree with Eddie and his list of players 100%
