rubbish article by the previous finance department which created this problem…

I love how you can just brush aside a well written and informative article, written by a person who is actually _in the know_, with a sweeping sentence, which only goes to show that you really have NFI. Seriously, Watto if the truth came up and hit you in the face a hundred times you would still choose to ignore it, such is your personal bias that appears to know no bounds!

Flip I don't know if Labor or the Coalition has the answers to some massive decisions that need to be made over the next 15-20 years in regards to many different issues

My concerns are that neither party seems to make the right decisions in regards to policy and are too concerned with keeping themselves in work

My biggest concern for is that many Australians don't get CPI wage increases that match the increases that occur every year in regards to rates ,power bills ,gas bills , private medical insurance ,fuel prices ,water rates ,food prices almost everything

The only way we will be able to support this countries oncoming issues are major population increases It will help us support industry ,our farmers and tourism

These would be our three biggest industries

The more you think about it , the more we need an open immigration policy

Anyone got any other way of supporting our aging , small population looking after our massive country

We are the only country in the world with the issues we have , we need to find our own solutions and not care what others are doing

"in the know"??? :roll

This is the person who stuffed up budget estimate after budget estimate… The only thing she knows is how not to use a calculator!

You can choose to listen to Labor BS, but the facts remain the Australian Government has a failing economic model and the smartest solution is to increase revenue or cut cost… or we can end up like those other countries Wing Ding Wong is comparing our AAA rating against?! [why we give a rats about other countries is beyond me]

Only GREEDY and SELFISH Australians wouldn't want to fix the modelling… Which one are you?!

Mate, I am far from being a greedy and selfish person - quite the opposite, in fact. You have no idea of my background.

I don't know where you're getting your info about this country's economic model from - Liberal BS and fear mongering spin perhaps?, but I think you and many Australians are being deceived by this current Govt. For the record, I'm not just believing the Labor BS either, because I know that they can spin it too. I get my info from political research organisations, such as The Australia Institute, who have no affiliation with any particular party, and have been formed for the purpose of keeping governments and politicians honest (an almost impossible task) and providing the general public with information that is not tarnished by the sensational and politically aligned media sources that are in our face every minute of the day. It's the only way to truly avoid the crap the major parties feed us - and they are all guilty of it, though some are worse than others.

The reason I backed Wong's article, in this instance, is because her information in it is supported by by this research - I believe she is actually telling the truth, whether Australians choose to believe it or not.

please… TAI is simply another opinion piece based on its own ideals.

I should add it does allow some good insights and reading, but that's it.

Its about as creditable as Phil Rothfield!

Its Red funnily enough

Was just stirring with my comment , she's probably a fascist

The biggest problem I think is we look at parties with rose coloured glasses

Its almost like Holden and Ford , I must admit I've changed a helluva lot over the last 18 months

We can't rely on the pollies , we need to make decisions in our own lives that will set ourselves up for the future

If you are relying on them , good luck with that 😱pen_mouth:
Winner #7 had me laughing.

Blue-ribbon coalition voters on my Facebook feed who belted me down as a pinko extremeist many months ago during the election have gone eerily silent tonight.

Can't for the life of me think why.

**Winner #7 had me laughing**.

Yeah WTH! Don't worry about sick people, education and hospital funding as long as we can still keep doing Swan Lake recitals all over the country. Glad to see they have their priorities right - seriously :crazy (Nothing against kids doing ballet, btw, but really what is more important here?)

Also this - A **$500 million** cut to indigenous programs over five years - will not go down well.

The filthy swine Liberals have attacked the youth unemployed, the sick, the pensioners, the environment and the worlds poor in order to pursue their fascist agenda of 'survival of the fittest (I mean selfcentred richest) '…...... Shame on all of those ' I'm doing allright thanks' Australians who voted for them !

Oh I've got plenty against kids doing ballet.

Great budget from Tony and Joe. Willing to lose votes to do what the country needs. that's called leading.

For those who don't understand the magnitude of what we are facing, I suggest to go and read the inter generational report.

Penny's comparisons internationally are just dumb. I've said many times on here before, it's just like saying I'm not so bad because i robbed one bank, because the bloke next door robbed 3.

We can't have the blinkers on with the intergenerational issue. It's not just us. It's most of the western economies. In that respect, penny's argument comes back on herself. If we think that bad debts of one country can't hurt the rest of the world, then we haven't learned a thing. It's small minded of penny to think that we don't need to start creating our buffer again and sums up labor to a tee.

Her using credit ratings is also laughable. Anyone see what Lehman was rated at before the collapse? The ratings agencies, while I think are still right here, is not something she should be using as an argument.

Those who are whinging about who it's targeting, OF course cuts will always hurt people with political sensitivities, because it's where 99% of the money is spent!! The rich have always taken the tax burden in this country and while they will bear the brunt more here, it's a fine balance trying to work out the equilibrium of not attacking success to the point where revenue is lost overseas. Not letting your emotions get the better of the math.

We have an exceptionally high top tax bracket and so much vitriol towards the 1%. It can't continue or we will hurt the country. 2% is a fair whack, but a good balance

Hard decisions are being made. It's refreshing.

Fuel excise going up which will make it harder for day to day Australians to just get to work, let alone save. Who will Tony blame when small businesses start going to the wall because people are saving just for their fuel and utilities bills?

I don't have a problem with the government asking everyone to chip in, but the stark reality is that virtually everyone has been asked to sacrifice, but big business wins with the mining tax and carbon tax set to be scrapped?

The one thing I don't mind is the changes to the dole for youth, anything to encourage them to get off their arses and get a job. There is a festering sense of entitlement with kids these days that see them wanting to walk into a $75,000 a year job straight out of high school. There are plenty of kids not working because cleaning toilets or working at Macca's is beneath them and they want to wait for the right job to come along. There are thousands of ads in the paper every week advertising job vacancies and thousands of general labouring jobs that require filling day on day. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do in order to get ahead in life.
