Press Conference

If you look at it closely, the 1st half was what counted (2nd half a bunch of reggies).

We were potentially up 10-4 after 25 mins. I think there is some hope through the cloud. They keep rolling out players like Pauga though and its gonna be a long season...

😂 Nope, I watched WT last game against Dogs before the trial, so any differences would be more obvious. Last year our line was getting bent and holes appearing in the middle. Apart from the short inside to Tom we were ok in the middle. Manly had to go around to get tries. The outside backs can fix that with some game time together. I think the new D coach is looking promising.
That’s just my opinion, I know many would disagree.
Bloody hope your right.
But not holding my breath.

After a decade of junk, why is this acceptable? 🤦‍♂️
Its been a lot longer than that. 18 yrs....

Takes a whike to flush away the poor culture.

We're in a battle to re establish our club as a reputable destination for the better players.

We need to stick by Madge who demands discipline as the new \ younger players come through.

1 more year.

I d

I dunno how anyone can conclude the players werent listening...myself I thought Madge looked a bit intense for a trial ...but it seemed to me they all were engaged
Perhaps Tamou was referring to more than on-field matters when he made his comment. Intense can wear thin and the message lost in the player's non responsive reaction to it.

So now it's *perhaps* the players weren't listening to Madge?
Seemed to me from what I recall, they were all looking at him....ie; listening

If only the club knew what a leader looked like and how to encourage those leadership qualities during the last decade.
Firstly removing possibly the club’s best ever leader, Tim Sheens, then systematically moving on any players who showed leadership qualities. Were they aware that by not recognising, fostering this quality in personnel they were sending a very negative message throughout the Rugby League world. It’s ironic that we can’t find captain, while many of the players we moved on are captains or leaders in their new home.
I was pleased for Josh Addo-Carr when he captained the all stars.
The club has acknowledged it’s failing by returning a few they’ve burnt, but those returning won’t be fully invested like they once were. True Leadership is not something you can buy, it’s fired by a strong sense of loyalty and desire with a foundation of trust.
As Spartan posted it will take a long time to change our culture to a more positive, trustworthy one.
Moving on Madge and Brooksy is a move backwards.

I agree with the vast majority of what you say but there where many valid reasons for moving Tim on when the club acted as they did.I am sure you remember the club tried to get Tim to accept a position which is the equivalent to what he now holds. It is a position he is suited for

Being paid well to underachieve has become our identity. It will attract certain players, and be avoided by the ones we really need. If we keep sacking the people trying to change that mindset - when clearly the talent is lacking in the squad - more of the same.

Sure, I remember that time. I could be wrong, but my understanding was, Tim wasn’t ready to stop coaching.

It became a watershed moment for WT, resulting from
the board getting bullied by a few players.
The reason given for Tim’s sacking was poor on field performances and some players weren’t happy about changes to the squad.
Since then, we’ve continued to change 12 or so players each season and our result on the ladder has continually been lower. With this in mind I feel the organisation behaved in a way that fostered mediocrity rather than showing an example of the kind of leadership we’re now looking for.
